Studying without Abitur TU Braunschweig offers various pathways into degree programmes, even without Abitur

When considering degree programme admission requirements, most people initially think of a high school diploma. However, there are other ways to gain university admission qualifications and enrol on a degree programme. TU Braunschweig provides advice on these options and has developed an extensive database where interested parties can check which degree programmes are available to them. Anyone interested in experiencing campus life for a weekend can do so at CampusXperience, which takes place from 21 to 23 June.

Vocational training

Master craftsmen and women, as well as state-certified technicians or business administrators, can apply for any bachelor’s or state examination degree programme at TU Braunschweig with the general university entrance qualification for professionally qualified persons. This qualification is equivalent to the Abitur. Under certain conditions, this general university entrance qualification can also be obtained through further training of at least 400 teaching hours. Anyone who has completed three years of vocational training and then worked in that profession for three years can apply for a degree programme aligned with the technical focus of their professional qualification. You can easily find suitable subjects in the TU Braunschweig database by entering your profession or selecting your desired degree programme to see what prior education is required.

Technical college entrance qualification

Prospective students with a Fachhochschulreife (FHR) qualification can study a specific subject. Students with a Fachhochschulreife can generally enrol in degree programmes corresponding to their field of study at technical colleges, vocational grammar schools, or vocational upper secondary schools. Those who have completed the academic part of the Fachhochschulreife at a general school and the practical part through at least one year of work experience can also study in a specific subject area.

Z-Prüfung

Those without a school-based university entrance qualification or a corresponding training or further education qualification can obtain a subject-specific university entrance qualification by taking the so-called Z-Prüfung. Those who pass this entrance examination can begin studying their chosen subject.
