Deutschlandstipendiums awarded 79 talented students funded
79 students at Technische Universität Braunschweig can look forward to a Deutschlandstipendium. 37 high-achieving and committed female students and 42 male students will each receive 300 euros per month for one year. This year, the funding amounts to 142,200 euros. Thanks to the increase from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, a total of 284,400 euros in scholarships could be awarded.
The sponsors and scholarship holders were honoured at a digital scholarship ceremony. The 79 scholarships awarded come from all faculties of TU Braunschweig. The focus of the funded scholarships is on the range of subjects in the engineering sciences. A total of 430 students applied. The nationwide selection criteria for awarding the Deutschlandstipendiums are primarily based on performance and talent. However, voluntary commitment, a sense of responsibility or special personal circumstances are also taken into account.
In addition to financial support, the Deutschlandstipendium also promotes inter-faculty exchange between the scholarship holders, so that new networks can be created. A total of 28 sponsors, including companies, foundations, associations and private individuals, provided scholarships. Some of the scholarship donors are already participating for the eleventh time and have been doing so since 2012, when the scholarship programme began.
“We are very proud of the achievements of our students and are pleased that we have the opportunity to support our young talents through the scholarships,” says TU President Professor Angela Ittel. “In addition, important networks open up for the scholarship holders through the exchange with the sponsors.”
Annalena Schulte, who is studying biological and chemical engineering, sees the scholarship as an asset she can use in future job applications because her achievements are once again recognised by the funding. “In addition, the scholarship also bridges the gap between studying and starting a career through the exchange with the sponsors and scholarship holders.
Sarah Potstada from the scholarship team at TU Braunschweig, which oversees the awarding, emphasises the importance of the networking idea: “In addition to the financial aspect, the scholarship holders benefit greatly from the exchange and practical insights of the sponsors, and on the other hand, sponsors can make contact with their top employees of tomorrow. A win-win situation.
