CHE Master’s Ranking: TU Braunschweig scores very well with students Research focus and study organisation impress Master's students

Once again this year, Technische Universität Braunschweig scored excellently in the CHE Master’s Ranking based on student evaluations. Eighteen Master’s programmes in the fields of civil engineering, electrical engineering and information technology, mechanical engineering, psychology, environmental engineering and process engineering were evaluated. In the field of mechanical engineering, TU Braunschweig is the leader in this category with an average of 800,000 euros in third-party funding per capita.

Master’s students rated the study situation at Technische Universität Braunschweig very positively across the board. In all of the programmes evaluated, top marks were given for the general study situation, support from teaching staff, assistance with studies and the practical orientation of teaching. Master’s students rated the organisation of studies, the transition to master’s studies, the range of courses on offer and the research orientation at TU Braunschweig particularly highly. The digital teaching elements and contact with professional practice also scored very well overall. The researchers involved in the degree programmes also achieved top marks, both in terms of third-party funding acquired and the number of doctorates.

“The top marks we regularly receive in the CHE ranking confirm our efforts to create excellent conditions for teaching and research at TU Braunschweig,” says TU Vice-President for Studies and Teaching, Prof. Knut Baumann, summarising the results. “The fact that our students consistently give us top marks across all subjects evaluated shows that TU Braunschweig is a very good choice for a master’s degree. I would like to thank all the teaching staff for their commitment and also the staff in the area of studies and teaching who create this excellent study environment for our students.”

Wide range of master’s programmes

A total of 18 degree programmes from six different fields were evaluated for this year’s CHE ranking. This shows how wide the range of Master’s programmes offered at TU Braunschweig is. The degree programmes evaluated are:

  • In the field of civil engineering: Civil Engineering (M.Sc.), Transport Engineering (M.Sc.) and Computational Sciences in Engineering (M.Sc.).
  • In the field of electrical engineering and information technology: Information Systems Engineering (M.Sc.), Electromobility (M.Sc.), Electronic Systems in Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering (M.Sc.), Electrical Engineering (M.Sc.) and Quantum Technologies in Electrical and Computer Engineering (M.Sc.).
  • In the field of mechanical engineering: Automotive Engineering and Mobile Systems (M.Sc.), Aerospace Engineering (M.Sc.) and Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc.).
  • In the field of psychology: Psychology with a focus on occupational and organisational psychology, transport and engineering psychology (M.Sc.) and psychology with a focus on clinical psychology and psychotherapy (M.Sc.).
  • As well as Environmental Engineering (M.Sc.), Metrology and Measurement Technology (M.Sc.), Sustainable Energy Technology (M.Sc.), Bio and Chemical Engineering and Pharmaceutical Process Engineering (M.Sc.).

Applications for the 2026 summer semester still possible

Applications for a Master’s programme or a restricted-admission Bachelor’s programme starting in the 2026 summer semester are still possible until 15 January. Prospective students can enrol for a place on an unrestricted Bachelor’s programme until 1 April. Anyone wishing to find out more about the courses on offer and the various admission requirements in advance will find a wealth of information on the TU Braunschweig website. Resources such as detailed degree programme profiles, the online self-assessment tool Fit4TU and workshops run by the Central Student Advisory Service can help you decide which course to study. The University Information Day (HIT) on 29 May 2026 allows prospective students to get a personal impression of the university and offers the opportunity to talk to current students.
