Today, on the nationwide day of remembrance, TU Braunschweig remembers the victims of National Socialism at 13:00 in front of the Old Building. All TU members have the opportunity to commemorate the victims with a minute’s silence after a short speech by President Angela Ittel and Steffen Dohmen as a representative of the AStA.
► Finish of the university elections
Not voted yet? Until 12:00 today, all employees and students can cast their vote for the university elections online.
► Marine conditions in Braunschweig
A saltwater wave current flume is currently being built in the experimental hall of the Leichtweiß Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources. In this large-scale research facility, which is unique in Europe, researchers will soon be able to study living marine growth.
► Sustainable management of existing buildings
In a joint research project, the Chair of Infrastructure and Real Estate Management and the Chair of Construction Engineering and Management are developing a decision-making basis for the sustainable management of existing buildings. All three sustainability dimensions (social, ecological, economic) are taken into account.
► Visit from Tampere
Last week we welcomed a delegation from our Finnish partner university Tampere University at various institutes and facilities of the university. The focus of the visit was the development of further joint research projects in the field of civil engineering.
► Artificial Intelligence made of light
The LENA research centre has welcomed Christian Werner as an associate member. The professor from the OST Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences is collaborating with Professor Andreas Waag from the Institute of Semiconductor Technology to research an LED-based computer architecture for neural networks.
► Awarded for nanomedicine modular system
Dr Viktor Maurer has been awarded the Breast Cancer Research Junior Award. He is researching nanoparticle systems that can be used in cancer diagnostics and therapy. A spin-off is to advance the production of transport nanoparticles.
► Business models for top research
In the seminar “Technology Business Model Creation”, students develop concepts for the market launch of TU research results. Scientists are invited to have a business model developed for their research projects. Registration is possible until 15 February.
► TU as a springboard for start-ups
The second edition of the Braunschweig Startup Monitor 2022 is now available online. The results of the renewed survey of regional start-ups prove that the TU Braunschweig is a true incubator for start-ups. 46% of the founders surveyed stated that they had obtained their degree at the TU.
► Sport offers during the lecture-free period
The booking period for the Sports Centre’s holiday sports courses, which start on 11 February, starts next Monday, 30 January. In addition, there are still places available in some of the courses of the Corporate Health Promotion for the current winter semester.
► Lump Sum Funding in Horizon Europe
How does it work and how do I write an application? On 9 February, the European Commission will explain the specifics of lump sum funding in an online event.
► Darling of the week
Nothing planned yet? How about going to a concert?! Under the motto “Das Wort ward Klang”, TU Braunschweig University Choir will give two concerts in St. Andreas Church and in the Audimax. The orchestra will also play its final concert of the semester in the Audimax, with its optimistic programme “Das Beste aus aller Welt. Ein optimistisches Sinfoniekonzert.”
