► Information week “Foundation University”
The program for the Foundation University Information Week, which takes place from 15 to 19 January, is online. All TU members can find out about the fundamental questions about the foundation model and ask their own personal questions in various exchange and information formats.
► Closing times during winter break
As last year, TU Braunschweig is going into its winter break. All facilities and institutes will be closed from 23 December to 7 January inclusive. The aim of the extended closing time is to save energy. We have compiled special closing times on December 22, the availability of study places and tips to support the energy-saving measures for you here.
► Research for the future of offshore wind energy
Scientists from the Leichtweiß Institute of Hydraulic Engineering launched a unique experiment with a floating wind turbine in the GWK+ large wave channel in Hanover. The tests took place as part of the international joint project NuLIMAS, which is investigating the phenomena of soil liquefaction.
► Application portal open
For more and more Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses, prospective students can also apply and enrol for the summer semester. In total, there are 16 Bachelor’s and 35 Master’s degree courses and the state examination course in pharmacy to choose from.
► Rain of prizes for architecture students
Students from the Institute of Conceptual and Architectural Design were particularly successful. In the last few days, six different prizes were awarded to them. A great success also for the quality of teaching. Congratulations!
► Starting signal for the HIT 2024
The date has been set: On Friday, 24 May 2024, the HIT for prospective students will enter a new round. Registration for the faculties’ program items is possible until 12 January. No registration is required for “Meet the Faculty”.
► Sustainable university
The Sustainability Council is delighted with the numerous responses to the sustainability strategy survey and would like to thank everyone for their support. A total of 1,362 people completed the questionnaire in full. The evaluation is still ongoing, but the initial statistics on the participants can already be viewed here.
►Calls for proposals for ZKfN future laboratories closed
The calls for proposals for the first two future lab topics at the Zentrum Klimaforschung Niedersachsen (ZKfN) have ended. With 14 applications submitted, there was broad participation from universities, research institutions and practice partners from all over Lower Saxony. The applications will now be reviewed by the MWK and the Volkswagen Foundation.
► Addressing excellent talents
On 22 January, 10.30-11.30 a.m., Research Services will offer an online workshop on recruiting and present best practices and funding formats.
► How to KI
… answers to this question will be provided by the Project House event series, which starts on 11 January. The interactive lecture and workshop series for lecturers and students offers many practical tips on how to deal constructively with AI at universities.
► Review of the year in pictures

► Darling of the week
Congratulations to our favorite of the week: Svea Koglin! The microtechnologist was honored by the DIHK as the best trainee in Germany. She successfully completed her training at the Institute of Microtechnology at the TU with an impressive 99%. We congratulate her and her trainers Bettina Thürmann and Anke Moritz on this fantastic achievement!
