Anyone who would like to participate in the joint TU presentation in the Research Region and MWK tents can submit suggestions by email at any time. A form is available for more specific ideas. We are looking for interactive formats from all areas of the university.

► New TU online shop…

► Office hours with the president

Anyone who has a concern or ideas, either personally or as a small group, can discuss them confidentially with President Angela Ittel during the office hours on 11 March at 10 a.m. Please register with Karen Lehmann by 9 March. 

► Research at the limits of material systems and beyond

Since November 2025, Thomas M. Koller has been a university professor and the new head of the Institute of Thermodynamics. His research focuses on transport processes and fluid interfaces in Energy and Process Engineering. In this interview, he talks about his research visions.

► A place for real opportunities for the future

Students present their architectural visions for the planned construction of an education and innovation centre in South Africa at the Haus der Stiftungen in Braunschweig. The project was developed in close collaboration between the Institute for Design and Architectural Strategies and the association “BE YOUR OWN HERO”. 

► Inaugural lecture

Prof. Christopher J. Teskey, Institute of Organic Chemistry, will hold his inaugural lecture “Inventing the Catalytic Reactions of the Future” on 12 March.

► 14th cohort of Technikantinnen celebrates completion of programme

The Niedersachsen Technikum offers young women the opportunity to spend six months testing what it is like to study STEM subjects at our university – between lecture halls and practical projects at six partner companies. On 27 February, the nine participants presented their results.

► Knowledge nugget #15: 360° teaching and learning scenarios

Immersive, gamified and story-based: Markus Weber from the E-Learning Working Group at TU Darmstadt will demonstrate the practical production of 360° scenarios on 12 March. To register.

In the latest episode of the Transfer Service podcast, Johannes Laux from enactus Germany shares fascinating insights into the power of sustainable student projects and the benefits of getting involved with enactus at our university. Listen now!

► Impact Map: Visibility for knowledge transfer in the region

The new interactive map from the Designated Office for Transfer allows TU members to showcase their collaborations and projects with social impact digitally.

► Symposium: “Does wisdom come with age?”

Wisdom can help us cope with life’s problems. Those interested can learn how to acquire and apply wisdom in practice at a symposium hosted by the Institute of Psychology on 6 May. Registration is open until 4 April (in-person participation) and 28 April (online participation).

Funding opportunity: “Boost Research! Seed Grants for Lower Saxony”

The new offer from zukunft.niedersachsen is intended to help researchers initiate innovative research projects in cooperation with at least two partners. Participation in one of the online consultation hours in advance is mandatory – the next one is on 17 March.

► Our darling of the week

… will soon get to take a peek behind the scenes of research at our university for a day – even though they are still at school! Johannes Förster and Julian Liersch are the lucky winners of the TU special prizes, which were awarded by Prof. Arno Kwade, Vice-President for Transfer and Innovation, at the regional round of the “Jugend forscht” competition in Braunschweig. Congratulations!
