► Jour Fixe of the administration

The third Jour Fixe of the year will be held online on 8 September at 10 a.m. Topics on the agenda include a review of CampusXperience and updates on travel expenses and fraudulent emails relating to EU tenders.

► Buntstadt: Democracy Day

What opportunities do we have as a university to engage with democracy? On 15 September, Democracy Day will be celebrated with events including the Democracy Market, the Transfer Service Community Café, and Democracy? Bingo!. From 5 p.m., everyone is invited to join the Soundcouch Democracy Day Edition to celebrate the diversity of our university and society.

► Office hours with the president

If anyone has any concerns or ideas, either personal or relating to a small group, they can discuss them confidentially with President Angela Ittel during the office hours on 15 September at 1 p.m. Please register with Karen Lehmann

► Test operation for autonomous bus

The first autonomous bus trial is starting in Hanover-Burgdorf. The Institute of Transportation and Urban Engineering is providing scientific support for the “Albus” project. The main focus is on analysing the potential impact of using autonomous buses in public transport on traffic and the environment.

► Coastal Research Forum: From mussel beds to offshore energy

The first Coastal Research Forum is being hosted by the Coastal Research Centre (FZK) in Hanover on 11 and 12 September. With the theme of Rethinking coastal areas: risks, challenges, opportunities, the event will see representatives from science, business, society and politics discuss current developments in our coastal areas.

► Final event of Co-Adapted Braunschweig

The results of the joint COABS project by the City of Braunschweig and TU Braunschweig will be presented at a closing event on 10 September. The central elements of an urban climate adaptation strategy will be outlined, along with practical examples of neighbourhood initiatives in urban society.

► AI in everyday university life – routine or uncharted territory?

In August, more than 25 TU Braunschweig employees met at the Media Lab for a meeting of the Science Management Network. They discussed the opportunities and limitations of AI. The next meeting will be held in November and will focus on the topic of Ecoversity.

► Seed Funding Call with Taiwan Tech

Together with Taiwan Tech, TU Braunschweig is organising a funding call for scientific and administrative university members who would like to initiate binational projects.

► Let’s go: City Cycling 2025 is starting

Starting on 7 September, it’s time to get pedalling and clocking up kilometres for the climate. TU Braunschweig is, of course, taking part and is aiming to reclaim the title this year. Register now and join in – every kilometre counts!

► Test exclusive material databases

The University Library is offering exclusive trial access to two material databases SpringerMaterials (until the end of September) and Total Materia (until the end of October). Both databases offer curated data and advanced functionalities for data research and processing. An introduction to Total Materia will be available online via Teams on 9 September. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to send an email.

► New sports and language courses!

Registration for Corporate Health Promotion (CHP) courses in the winter semester opened this week. Registration deadline is 12 noon on 19 September. The same deadline applies to language courses. Places are still available on many other courses in the continuing personnel training programmes.

► Our two darlings of the week

… are Sanjivani Rajput and Simran Mallar, who founded the first Indian Students’ Association at TU Braunschweig in the middle of their Master’s degree. Their aim is to offer Indian students a taste of home and make Indian culture accessible to anyone interested. We wish them every success and hope that all our international students enjoy their time in Braunschweig!
