When trees suffer

Researchers at TU Braunschweig are investigating how the resilience of native tree species can be strengthened through targeted nutrient inputs. Their work shows that climate change is already a reality – with sometimes dramatic consequences for our vegetation.

Digitalisation: Rethinking collaborative teaching with Co3Learn

Since 2021, the Co3Learn project has been demonstrating how digital tools for teaching can be used effectively across universities. It has become clear that it is not only the technology that is crucial, but also its joint development with teachers, students and IT departments.

Using wastewater for vegetable cultivation

In the Wahrenholz pilot project, led by the Institute for Urban Water Management at TU Braunschweig, treated wastewater is being used for hydroponic vegetable cultivation. The research project ‘HydroWave+’ offers a promising solution to the increasing water scarcity in agriculture.

Why giving and receiving feedback is so difficult for us

On 26 August 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00, the ZPE invites all employees and managers to a digital event series called ‘Impulshäppchen’ (Impulse Bites). This time, we will be discussing the topic of giving and receiving feedback with Stefan Lapenat. No registration is required. Further information about the event can be found here.

Data Days Lower Saxony 2025

The second Data Days Lower Saxony, organised by the Lower Saxony Research Data Management Initiative (FDM-NDS), will take place in November! On 24 and 25 November, the state initiative invites members of the initiative, NFDI participants and interested researchers to attend an event for information, exchange and networking. The free event will take place in Braunschweig in the auditorium of the Haus der Wissenschaft. This will be followed on 26 November by a digital training programme on FDM for researchers and interested parties.

New funding line “Research Forum”

As part of its new ‘Forum Research’ funding line, the Daimler and Benz Foundation is bringing together projects that stand out for their scientific originality, social relevance and manageable scope. Promising projects from all disciplines will receive up to €150,000 in funding. The aim is to initiate innovative scientific projects with social relevance or to make existing results usable in practice.

Open Call: Volkswagen Foundation scoping workshops

The Research Services and the Ecoversity Hub invite researchers to apply for the current call for Scoping Workshops at the Volkswagen Foundation by September 16. Through “Scoping workshops”, the foundation intends to encourage a reflection and further development of disciplinary and interdisciplinary research areas and communities. Interested parties can take part in an online consultation on August 5 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. 

Young Software Developers Day: The winning teams

On 17 July, around 190 students presented the results of this year’s software development internship. A jury of experts from academia, industry and the student body evaluated the projects and awarded prizes to the three best teams.

Victoria Nights at the Botanical Gardens

In calendar week 33, the ‘Green Jewel’ of TU Braunschweig will be open until 10 p.m. for a special occasion: the blooming of the tropical giant water lily (Victoria cruziana). The exact flowering dates can only be estimated and announced approximately five days in advance. By the way: the lotus is also currently in bloom in the Victoria House.

… is the rainbow flag that was raised last Friday on University Square. Students, staff and supporters gathered to raise the Progress Pride Flag together and send a message of social diversity, freedom and a strong democracy.
