► Congratulations
… to our President Prof. Angela Ittel. She was re-elected as a member of the DAAD Executive Board in the first round of voting on 20 June. We congratulate Angela Ittel on her re-election and wish her every success in strengthening the DAAD in developing a new understanding of internationalisation at German universities.
► Oliver Blume at TU Braunschweig
TU Braunschweig alumnus and member of the University Council Oliver Blume will give a lecture on “The Porsche Story and the New Entrepreneurial Guidelines in the Volkswagen Group” on 11 July in the Audimax. All members and students of TU Braunschweig are cordially invited to attend the event.
► Science making waves
On Friday, the expanded Large Wave Current Flume will be opened in Hannover. What possibilities the GWK+ offers the Coastal Research Centre of TU Braunschweig and Leibniz Universität Hannover, Prof. Nils Goseberg and Prof. Torsten Schlurmann report in an video interview.
► In the spirit of diversity
On 26 June, TU Braunschweig once again set an example for diversity, anti-discrimination and equality with the second Diversity Day. On the colourfully decorated Universitätsplatz, the numerous visitors exchanged ideas at impulses, workshops and information stands of regional initiatives and celebrated to live music.
► Regional competence centre for work design to be established
The KREIS project is funded by the BMBF with a total of 10 million euros and aims to establish a regional competence centre for work design. 42 partners from science and industry (coordinator: Prof. Dr. Simone Kauffeld) are researching how work must change to enable a circular economy in the mobility industry.
► Letter of intent to establish a battery recycling centre
Several companies and research institutions from south-eastern Lower Saxony are pooling their expertise along the battery recycling value chain in a consortium, thereby promoting the Circular Economy in Lower Saxony. The plan is to establish a battery recycling centre for lithium-ion batteries in the Harz region with research support from TU Braunschweig, among others.
► On Sabbatical in Braunschweig’s microeletronics
So much commitment is hard to stop: US professor Fa Foster Dai was so fascinated by the projects at the Institute for CMOS Design that he is currently spending two and a half months on sabbatical with Professor Vadim Issakov’s team designing integrated circuits for all occasions.
► Congratulations
… to the Institute for Building Climatology and Energy of Architecture! With “Healthy Living in Wood, Brick and Clay” – a project together with TU Berlin and the University of Stuttgart – the Institute won the Sustainability Challenge of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
► A warm welcome
… to Prof. Marcel Mierwald! He is new Junior Professor for “Didactics of Educational Media with a Focus on History” at the Institute for History and the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | GEI. Among other things, Prof. Mierwald is researching how historical teaching and learning is changing in the digital transformation.
► A day on campus
Last week, around 180 prospective students took the opportunity of the first Sneak Peek TU to explore the university and get to know campus life in hands-on workshops, lectures and networking opportunities. We have compiled the Sneak Peek highlights in a picture gallery.

On 11 and 12 October, the conference “Future City. Research and Actions for Positive Change” invites you to an open interdisciplinary dialogue. ► Jürgen Wehland Prize 2023 for young infection researchers
In September, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig and the HZI Sponsors’ Association will award the Jürgen Wehland Prize 2023 to excellent young researchers. Young scientists with an infection-relevant research focus can apply.
► Conclusion of the AI Special Event Series “AI – Transformation in Higher Education”
On 4 July, the final event of the KI-SPECIALS in the summer semester 2023 will take place in the Architecture Pavilion. Interested parties are cordially invited to join the panel discussion “AI and the future of education” with experts.
► Shopping on campus
The Farmer’s market on University Square has been running for about a month now. Every Tuesday, visitors can not only buy regional fruit and vegetables, but also get into conversation with others over a coffee or a waffle. The organising team cordially invites all TU members to visit the market and use it as a networking opportunity.
