Entanglement and topological phases in low-dimensional quantum magnets 20.06.2017 | 16:45 Uhr - 18:15 Uhr

Quantum magnetic materials are fascinating systems with a multitude of quantum phases of
matter. Due to their intrinsic strong interactions, correlation effects and quantum mechanical
entanglement are key features. Certain systems, like spin-1 antiferromagnets, show
topological phases, whose theoretical discovery was awarded by the Nobel prize in physics in
2016. In my talk, I will review various quantum magnetic systems ranging from lowdimensional
materials to quantum simulators for topological phases in systems of ultracold
polar molecules on optical lattices, giving an outlook to experimental investigations.
