With their traditional end-of-semester concerts, the big band, choir and orchestra invite you to a varied summer of concerts. The choir explores the fascination of the element of fire, the Big Band brings summery energy to the stage with jazz and funk, whilst the University Orchestra ventures a symphonic interpretation of Shakespeare\u2019s \u2018A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream\u2019.<\/p>\n<h3>TU Big Band Semester Concerts<\/h3>\n<p>In its summer semester concert, the <a href=\"https:\/\/bigband-braunschweig.de\/\">TU Big Band<\/a>, conducted by Robert D\u00f6rfer, will present well-known classics by Stevie Wonder alongside lively jazz by Bob Mintzer and Peter Herbolzheimer, as well as cool funk.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tuesday, 30 June, 8.00 pm<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Saturday, 4 July, 6.00 pm<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>at the Haus der Wissenschaft, Aula, Pockelsstra\u00dfe 11, 38106 Braunschweig. Admission is free.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>\u2018FYRE! FYRE!\u2019 \u2013 Songs of fire, ash and burning emotions with the TU Braunschweig Choir<\/h3>\n<p>In three end-of-semester concerts, the <a href=\"https:\/\/chor.tu-braunschweig.de\/\">TU Braunschweig Choir<\/a>, conducted by Johannes H\u00f6ing, explores the element of fire. The programme features numerous contemporary works:<\/p>\n<p>The audience encounters fire in all its elemental and overwhelming power in Katerina Gimon\u2019s work \u2018Fire\u2019 (Canada, 2018), featuring spoken word, body percussion and rhythmic loops. Fire as a symbol of hope and spiritual enlightenment takes centre stage in Darius Lim\u2019s \u2018Fire of Hope\u2019 (Singapore, 2023).<\/p>\n<p>The programme also features \u2018Am Kamin\u2019, a composition by choir member Moritz K\u00f6nig, written especially for this concert series in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Things take on a mystical and mysterious air with Hugo Distler\u2019s setting of M\u00f6rike\u2019s famous ballad \u2018Der Feuerreiter\u2019 for six-part choir. As an expression of human passion and emotion, the motif of fire also appears in 16th-century works by Thomas Morley and Hans Leo Hassler.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is rounded off with well-known pop classics such as \u2018Eternal Flame\u2019 by The Bangles, Ed Sheeran\u2019s \u2018I See Fire\u2019 and Johnny Cash\u2019s \u2018Ring of Fire\u2019.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Saturday, 4 July, 5.00 pm<\/strong> at Emmauskirche Weststadt, Muldeweg 5, 38120 Braunschweig<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sunday, 5 July, 6.00 pm<\/strong> at St Andreas Church, An der Andreaskirche 1, 38100 Braunschweig<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tuesday, 7 July, 8.00 pm<\/strong> in the Audimax at TU Braunschweig, Universit\u00e4tsplatz 3, 38106 Braunschweig<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Admission is free. The choir will be collecting donations at the exit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>\u2018A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream \u2013 A Symphonic Comedy of Errors\u2019 by the TU Orchestra<\/h3>\n<p>William Shakespeare\u2019s \u2018A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream\u2019 is a universal classic. But let\u2019s be honest: who could retell the story of this comedy? Who could keep track of the multitude of characters and plotlines? And who ends up marrying whom? Do the right people find each other? And who is actually dreaming which dream? Drawing on expertise in depth psychology, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tu-braunschweig.de\/orchester\">TU Braunschweig Orchestra<\/a>, conducted by Markus L\u00fcdke, ventures into a symphonic interpretation of the dream. None other than Sigmund Freud (played by actor G\u00f6tz van Ooyen) stands by the ensemble\u2019s side.<\/p>\n<p>And the orchestra turns to the music for guidance. They begin with Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, but then shift their perspective time and again. For Benjamin Britten, Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k, Meike Katrin Stein, Carl Maria von Weber, Alfred Schnittke and Sergei Prokofiev also offer profound insights.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Saturday, 11 July, 7.00 pm<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sunday, 12 July, 7.00 pm<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Tuesday, 14 July, 7.00 pm<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>in the Audimax at Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig, Universit\u00e4tsplatz 3, 38106 Braunschweig.
