In the temporarily occupied shop premises, scientific activities and findings from the ForschungRegion (ResearchRegion) Braunschweig will continue to be communicated to interested members of the public in the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>Around two years ago, Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum and Professor Dr. Angela Ittel, President of Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig, opened the showcase. Since then, around 2,000 visitors have actively taken advantage of the offerings from the participating research institutions. In addition, numerous passers-by have been able to gain insights into the work of scientists from the region as they walked by.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous scientific institutions in Braunschweig have so far provided insights into their work in a variety of formats. The spectrum ranges from escape games and live talks to schoolchildren\u2019s laboratories, a Science Watch Party and workshops. In addition to TU Braunschweig, participants included the Th\u00fcnen Institute, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, phaeno, the Braunschweig Scientific Society, the Julius K\u00fchn Institute, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, the three state museums, the Fraunhofer WKI, the House of Science and the VDI.<\/p>\n<p>The contributions are coordinated by the House of Science on behalf of ForschungRegion Braunschweig. The current programme can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forschungregion.de\/en\/science-showcase\/\">https:\/\/www.forschungregion.de\/en\/science-showcase\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cI am delighted that, as a city, we are able to provide this special showcase for scientific work for another year. Using a vacant shop premises in the city centre as a place for learning and meeting is a model of success in many respects: the showcase invites the people of Braunschweig in an imaginative way to engage with scientific research, whilst at the same time putting the strengths of our city of science in a central location in the spotlight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel, President of TU Braunschweig:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cThe Science Showcase brings to life what we at TU Braunschweig mean by \u2018Ecoversity\u2019: we open doors. We build bridges between the laboratory and the city. We bring together knowledge, people and perspectives to convey the relevance of our work and to shape the future together. That is why we are delighted that this important space is being preserved \u2013 as a place for encounters, for exchange and for new ideas.
