Acrobatics at dizzying heights, a musical medley, insights into science and lots of encouraging words. With a colourful and international programme, Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig welcomed more than 3,100 new students for the twelfth time to its central freshers’ welcome in the Eintracht stadium.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ho\u015f geldiniz, Hola y bienvenido, A very warm welcome. The new students were greeted in various languages by international students and the moderation team. President Professor Angela Ittel also greeted the new students: “From today, you are a member of the dynamic community of TU Braunschweig, where excellent science and innovative teaching come first. During your time with us, you will not only acquire knowledge and skills, but also build friendships and networks that will shape the rest of your lives. We are delighted to have you here and look forward to the years ahead!”<\/p>\n

Professor Knut Baumann, vice president for Learning and Teaching, highlighted the many opportunities for students to get involved in campus life and gain experience abroad: “Take advantage of the opportunities our community offers you and don’t forget: you have every opportunity to shape the future here with us!”<\/p>\n

Paula Clasen and Alina Unrau from the University Sports Centre provided moments of amazement with an acrobatic aerial silks show at lofty heights.<\/p>\n

In her welcoming speech, Eintracht president Nicole Kumpis drew parallels between football and studying: “Even if you experience setbacks, it’s worth getting up and keeping at it.”<\/p>\n

When was Eintracht Braunschweig founded? How many faculties are there? Where are the most study places at TU Braunschweig? The first people to answer these questions correctly won two free tickets for an Eintracht Braunschweig game.<\/p>\n

Engagement and diversity in action<\/h3>\n

The two members of the AStA board, Magda Quade and Steffen Dohmen, presented their roles and support services and encouraged the new students to get involved and think outside the box of their own studies. “Student life and studying thrive on mutual exchange and support. Success is easier to celebrate in a community, and the challenges and difficulties of studying only seem half as big when you are not facing them alone.”<\/p>\n

The musical medley with the queer choir ‘Queermonics’, the pop and jazz band ‘Benbees’, consisting of Indonesian students and alumni, and ‘Deponie’, a pop-punk band of Chinese students, had the students in the stands joining in. With their performance, the music groups showed that TU Braunschweig is not only a hotspot of excellent research, but also a place of diversity and extracurricular engagement.<\/p>\n

With the yellow H2 swallow scooter to the stadium<\/h3>\n

Professor Michael Heere from the Institute of Internal Combustion Engines and Fuel Cells gave an insight into research at TU Braunschweig with exciting facts about hydrogen. With the help of a bright yellow H2 swallow scooter, which did a lap around the stadium, he presented the “Urban Scooter” project, which deals with fuel cell hybrid drives for small mopeds. He emphasised the importance in science of questioning existing boundaries and looking for new solutions.<\/p>\n

Outside the stadium, a glider from AKA Flieg and a racing car from the Lions Racing Team demonstrated the work of student initiatives. The procession then continued by public transport or bicycle to the central campus. From homemade rockets and fresh waffles to lacrosse games and homemade popcorn, nearly 60 information stands showcased services, institutes, counselling centres and student associations, offering activities, information and advice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
