Around 190 students from the Bachelor’s degree programmes in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Computer and Communication Systems Engineering and Mathematics at Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig will be presenting their work at the “Tag der jungen Softwareentwickler\u201c (Young Software Developers’ Day) on<\/p>\n

Thursday, 20 July 2023, from 14:00 to 17:00 hrs
\nin the foyer of the Informatikzentrum,
\nM\u00fchlenpfordtstra\u00dfe 23, 38106 Braunschweig,<\/strong><\/p>\n

the results of this year’s software development internship. Pupils and technology enthusiasts are cordially invited to attend. A jury with experts from science, the student body, industry and the city will evaluate the projects and award prizes to the three best teams.<\/p>\n

Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n

Virtual referees and predictions for energy production<\/h3>\n

The students from twelve institutes dealt with very different projects in the software development internship: with a chatbot that is supposed to help gather important information especially at the beginning of studies, a gamified StudyBuddy, a web application that is supposed to support the planning of rescue operations or an app that helps to find a stolen bicycle.<\/p>\n

The “Harzer-Stempelrouten-App<\/strong>” (Harz Stamp Route App) is about saving the Harzer Wandernadel stamps electronically and suggesting personalised routes. For example, users can set a time or distance limit and the app will display a route that allows you to collect as many stamps as possible.<\/p>\n

Another team of students has developed a laser tag without a laser: If you are out with several people, you can use “QR-Tag<\/strong>” to play the popular laser tag without special hardware. All that is needed is a smartphone and QR codes printed out in advance, which users can use to catch other players by scanning the code.<\/p>\n

The topic of “energy production through renewable energies” was the focus of the development of another app. “EnergyPredict<\/strong>” uses weather forecasts to predict energy production, especially from solar energy.<\/p>\n

“Kicker-Eye<\/strong>” is designed to put an end to discussions during a game of table football. Using artificial intelligence, the game is analysed in real time and both goals and so-called dead balls are automatically recognised, i.e. balls that cannot be reached by any figure. In addition, the app can display an overview with statistics after the game: From where are goals scored? How many passes were played?<\/p>\n

The software development internship<\/h3>\n

During this year’s software development internship, around 190 students from twelve institutes worked on a total of 28 projects and learned how to develop complex software systems in a practice-oriented manner. They were accompanied by the respective institutes from planning to development to completion of the products. After an intensive phase of developing, programming and testing, the young software developers are eager to present their finished products to the public.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
