Planned for a long time, but postponed by necessity – now the time has finally come: the choir and orchestra of Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig will finally perform together. Almost 150 musicians and singers will take part in the four concerts starting on 15 July in the Main Lecture Hall. The programme is “Next Level”: the choir and orchestra will exclusively perform music from video and computer games.<\/p>\n

It is a concert of a special kind and with many premieres. At the end of the semester, TU Braunschweig’s choir<\/a> and orchestra<\/a> will perform together for the first time. This collaboration was also made possible by the new technical conditions that the renovated Main Lecture Hall now offers. The “Next Level” programme is a homage to music from video and computer games. Film music has often been part of concerts, but with gaming music the ensembles are entering new musical territory. This area currently offers perhaps the greatest creative dynamics, because games have long since overtaken blockbuster cinema on the market anyway.<\/p>\n

Participation has never been so large<\/h3>\n

The design of the concert programme has also developed a unique dynamic. Never before has the participation of the participants been so great as in this project. The desire to include the music of their favourite games in the programme has led to many direct contacts with composers, arrangers and other orchestras – in all directions and on all continents. Many of the compositions in the programme are already large-scale orchestral and with choir. Some, however, were only subsequently adapted for the concert hall – including early experimental electronic music that was wrested from the Commodore C64, which was manufactured in Braunschweig and only had three voices.<\/p>\n

Admission to the concerts is free. Admission tickets will be issued one hour before the start of each concert in the Main Lecture Hall (Universit\u00e4tsplatz 3, 38106 Braunschweig).<\/p>\n
