What will the coexistence and interaction of humans, animals and plants with machines look like in the future? Can the extent and intensity of the new synergies be determined? The commission “Synergie und Intelligenz: technische, ethische und rechtliche Herausforderungen des Zusammenwirkens lebender und nicht lebender Entit\u00e4ten im Zeitalter der Digitalisierung\u201c (SYnENZ) (Synergy and intelligence: technical, ethical and legal challenges of the interaction of living and non-living entities in the age of digitalisation) of the Braunschweigische Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft (Braunschweig Scientific Society) deals with the forms of coexistence resulting from these developments. For the second time, it is organising a conference<\/a> with scientists from different disciplines on 15 and 16 February 2023 in the Haus der Wissenschaft together with Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig.<\/p>\n

The speakers come from the fields of ethics, ergonomics, medical informatics, traffic research, robotics and sustainable mobility, among others. The programme items cover topics such as “Mobilit\u00e4tsverhalten und Verkehrssysteme: Gestaltung klimafreundlicher Interaktion\u201c (Mobility behaviour and transport systems: designing climate-friendly interaction), “Mein Doktor, die KI und ich: Ethische Aspekte des Einsatzes k\u00fcnstlicher Intelligenz in der Gesundheitsversorgung\u201c (My doctor, the AI and me: ethical aspects of the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare) and whether the humans or the machines are changing each other.<\/p>\n

The question of what we are actually dealing with when interacting with artificial intelligence plays a very important role at the conference. The second SYnENZ symposium will therefore focus on approaches to assessing this, making it measurable in concrete cases and also evaluating it ethically. There will be plenty of room for exchange and discussion around these topics.<\/p>\n

Public evening event<\/h3>\n

At the end of the first day, there will be a public evening event with two lectures: Johannes Weyer, Senior Professor for Sustainable Mobility at TU Dortmund University, will speak on the topic “Vermenschlichung von Technik? Soziologische Blicke auf das Zusammenspiel von Mensch und autonomer Technik\u201c (Humanisation of Technology? Sociological views on the interplay between humans and autonomous technology). Professor Jochen Steil from the Institute of Robotics and Process Control at TU Braunschweig will explore the question: “Ist k\u00fcnstliche Intelligenz zu kontrollieren?\u201c (Is artificial intelligence controllable?). The evening event will take place on<\/p>\n
