The EU research project egeniouss<\/i> <\/a>combines satellite navigation with camera images and sensor data. The technology improves positioning in cities and opens up new possibilities for cycle navigation, surveying and drone operations.<\/p>\n Turbulence behaves differently in space \u2013 researchers from the Institute of Theoretical Physics at TU Braunschweig, working with an international team, have for the first time demonstrated a reversal of magnetic field rotation<\/a>, which creates distinct structures within the otherwise unstructured plasma. The findings have been published in \u201cThe Astrophysical Journal Letters\u201d.<\/p>\n Prof. Clemens H\u00fcbler<\/a> has been head of the Institute of Statics and Dynamics at TU Braunschweig since October. His research focuses on improving the prediction of wind turbine service life and monitoring railway bridges using sensors.<\/p>\n David Quero Mart\u00edn<\/a> is the new Professor of Aeroelasticity at our university and Director of the DLR Institute of Aeroelasticity. His research focuses on how interactions between airflow and flexible structures can be utilised to make aircraft safer, lighter and more efficient.<\/p>\n Thomas Gro\u00dfe<\/a> is the new professor of production measurement technology. He combines modern sensor technologies with innovative recycling processes to identify materials more precisely and process them by type.<\/p>\n In Prof. Tim Fingscheidt\u2019s Deep Learning Lab<\/a>, 30 students developed new methods for improved image recognition \u2013 for applications such as autonomous driving, robotics and medical image analysis. The winning team impressed with an approach that makes the recognition rate significantly more robust.<\/p>\n On 24 October, the Haus der Wissenschaft Braunschweig will open its doors for the second SE\u00b2A Science Slam under the motto \u201cClear the ring for the brightest minds\u201d<\/a>. Hands-on research, interdisciplinary insights and a wealth of passion for aerospace research will take centre stage on this evening.<\/p>\n Six researchers from the Automotive Research Centre Niedersachsen (NFF) took part in this year\u2019s IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference<\/a>. They contributed numerous technical papers and came second in the hackathon.<\/p>\n Nominations must be submitted by 26 October!
