TU Braunschweig is once again among the ten universities in Germany with the highest levels of third-party funding<\/a> \u2013 and has even climbed from ninth to eighth place. Our university remains the frontrunner in Lower Saxony.<\/p>\n A Lower Saxony consortium has been invited to submit a full proposal with a project budget of 122 million euros. Key technologies<\/a> for the quantum computer are being developed by the research groups led by Professors Andreas Waag, Stefanie Kroker and Vadim Issakov, as well as Dr Liubov Bakhchova.<\/p>\n TU President Angela Ittel will be answering questions about the Ecoversity Initiative<\/a> at a digital town hall on 6 October at 10.00 am. All members of the TU are warmly invited to join via the Webex link.<\/p>\n The LeoVan, a TU owned small van, is on the road: the university\u2019s new mobile school laboratory<\/a> brings experiments directly to schools and youth centres across the region. At the launch event at the Ricarda-Huch-Schule, pupils were able to conduct their own research and try things out for themselves.<\/p>\n An international research team led by Prof. Stefan S\u00fcllow<\/a> is investigating the mineral clinoatacamite. The study reveals an unusually strong competition between magnetic states \u2013 with potential implications for future quantum technologies. The findings have now been published in the journal Physical Review Letters<\/i>.<\/p>\n Prof. Marina Creydt, Institute of Food Chemistry, will hold her inaugural lecture<\/a> \u201cMolekulare Fingerabdr\u00fccke \u2013 Analytische Strategien f\u00fcr Lebensmittelbetrug und Klimaforschung?\u201d on 8 October.<\/p>\n With effect from 1 October 2026, Prof. Dr Ludger Frerichs (67), Head of the Institute for Mobile Machinery and Commercial Vehicles (IMN) at TU Braunschweig, will be retiring<\/a>. The succession process is underway, and the new appointment is expected in 2027. We wish him all the best for this new chapter in his life!<\/p>\n TU Braunschweig and the University of Utah are further expanding their long-standing collaboration in chemistry<\/a>. The exchange is growing in both directions \u2013 and opening up new prospects for students. In one case, the journey led from Salt Lake City via Braunschweig to Stanford.<\/p>\n On 29 September, Jan F. Horneck received the Young Researchers\u2019 Award at the Central German Nutrition Summit<\/a>. He was honoured in Erfurt for his thesis, \u2018Selenium-induced off-flavours in beer\u2019. Horneck has been pursuing his PhD at the Institute of Food Chemistry under Assistant Professor Jana Raupbach since 2026. Congratulations!<\/p>\n Under the motto \u201cEmbracing diversity and shaping the future\u201d, the symposium<\/a> on 7 October will bring together around 800 instructors and educational staff from comprehensive schools in the Braunschweig region. This is the first time the Comprehensive Schools Day has been held at our TU Braunschweig.<\/p>\n The Staff Council invites all staff members to this year\u2019s staff meeting<\/a>. Attendance at the staff meeting counts as working time.<\/p>\n On 18 January 2027, there will be a certificate renewal<\/a> for eduroam. Anyone who set up eduroam using the geteduroam app before 3 August 2026 will need to set up eduroam again using the geteduroam app.<\/p>\n From October, the remaining TU car parks at the Braunschweig Research Airport and on Volkmaroder Stra\u00dfe will also be integrated into the TU car park management system<\/a>. Tickets can be purchased here<\/a>.<\/p>\n The cross-campus educational alliance efzn Academy<\/a> offers practical professional development courses on topics such as hydrogen, geothermal energy and digital energy systems. The programmes start on 1 October.<\/p>\n Every year, the University of Potsdam awards the Voltaire Prize, worth 5,000 euros, to early-career researchers who champion tolerance, international understanding and respect for differences. Nominations are now open. Further information is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n To mark the Ecoversity Expedition, the Science and Art Lab<\/a> is opening an exhibition featuring works by the artist Susanne Kriemann. The exhibition can be viewed during normal office hours in the Science and Art Lab, Historic Main Building, Ground Floor, Room 006.<\/p>\n On 5 October, as part of the Ecoversity Expedition<\/a>, interactive activities await all visitors: the new knowledge-sharing machine, presentations of current projects, a postcard campaign and the interactive impact map, accompanied by drinks and snacks.
