\u25ba Prof. Katja Koch to become the new President of the University of Hildesheim<\/b><\/h3>\n

The TU education researcher is set to become<\/span> President of the University of Hildesheim Foundation<\/span><\/a> on 1 January 2027. The Senate and the Foundation Board unanimously approved her candidacy. Congratulations!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba The human factor on the digital construction site<\/b><\/h3>\n

How can digital technologies improve construction processes without losing sight of the people on the construction site and the physical and mental strain they face? Researchers, under the headship of Dr Bart\u0142omiej Sawicki from the Institute of Structural Design, are investigating this in the project<\/span> \u201cCentre for Digital and Integrated Construction Processes\u201d<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba World-record performance<\/b><\/h3>\n

Prof. Uta Schlickum and her research group from the Institute of Applied Physics have built a<\/span> unique photon scanning tunnelling microscope<\/span><\/a>. With it, they capture ten times more light than comparable systems worldwide.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Analytics for the food of the future<\/b><\/h3>\n

Since April,<\/span> Prof. Marina Creydt has been Professor<\/span><\/a> of Instrumental Analysis in Food Chemistry. In an interview, she explains how modern mass spectrometric methods help to detect food fraud and investigate the climate impacts of plant-based foods.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Fulbright Scholar at the Institute of Genetics<\/b>
\n<\/b><\/h3>\n

Mia Kantorovich<\/span><\/a> is researching the role of a protein in the defence against coronavirus and herpes viruses. During her time at TU Braunschweig, she has not only come to appreciate the collaborative working environment, but also some German customs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba European training tool for change agents<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Department of Business Ethics, Sustainability and Social Change, in collaboration with Spanish researchers as part of the European PRO\u2011CLIMATE project, has further developed a<\/span> training course for change agents<\/span><\/a>. The Media Lab was also involved in this.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Inaugural lecture<\/b><\/h3>\n

Prof. Thomas Th\u00fcm<\/span><\/a>, Institute of Software Engineering and Vehicle Informatics, will deliver his inaugural lecture, \u201cHow does the software in my car age?\u201d, on 9 June.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Department of Mathematics has secured Prof. Barbara Niethammer from the University of Bonn for the <\/span>opening event on 12 June<\/span><\/a>. The first event in the new lecture series is dedicated to TU Professor Michael Herrmann, who passed away two years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Registration opens for professional and personnel development\u2019s training programmes<\/b><\/h3>\n

In the second half of 2026, the ZPE is once again offering a wide range of opportunities for our university\u2019s staff. Registration opens on 10 June at 9 am (<\/span>GradTUBS<\/span><\/a>) and on 15 June at 10 am (<\/span>Staff development for all employees<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Call for tender: \u201cClimate Change, Justice, Society: Just Transition\u201d<\/b><\/h3>\n

For up to six years, zukunft.niedersachsen will fund<\/span> consortia comprising scientific research facilities and industry partners<\/span><\/a> with up to five million euros. Applications are now open \u2013 further information will be provided at an event hosted by the Centre for Climate Research on 16 June.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Our darling of the week<\/b><\/h3>\n

\u2026 even comes up with ideas for new microchips in her sleep:<\/span> Dr Liubov Bakhchova<\/span><\/a> is developing mini-laboratory systems at the Institute of Microtechnology and the Institute for CMOS Design that could make animal testing obsolete in the future. To this end, she bridges the gaps between microtechnology, electronics and biology on a daily basis \u2013 and is constantly asking new questions.<\/span><\/p>\n
