\u25ba Future technologies at the Hannover Messe<\/h3>\n

From 20 to 24 April, our university will be presenting the \u201cSynTrac\u201d aviation project, sustainable battery and hydrogen research, and quantum technologies at the world\u2019s leading international industrial trade fair<\/a>. Start-ups and other research projects from TU institutes will also be showcasing innovative solutions \u2013 ranging from energy efficiency to cyber security.<\/p>\n

\u25ba More international STEM talents at TU Braunschweig<\/h3>\n

The \u201cCOMPASS International\u201d<\/a> project run by International House is receiving \u20ac500,000 from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK). The aim is to attract international STEM students to TU Braunschweig through attractive pre-university preparation programmes.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Research duel in the canopy<\/h3>\n

What is the best way to collect branch and leaf samples from the tree canopy \u2013 at a height of 40 metres? Researchers from TU Braunschweig and G\u00f6ttingen are comparing tree climbers and sampling drones. A short film<\/a> shows which method is better suited to assessing the health of trees.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New BRICS Executive Board with Melanie Brinkmann as Spokesperson<\/h3>\n

The new Executive Board includes representatives from TU Braunschweig, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and the Leibniz Institute DSMZ.\u00a0 Prof. Melanie Brinkmann takes over as Spokesperson<\/a>, succeeding Prof. Dieter Jahn, who played a key role in establishing BRICS.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Elite Indian university visits<\/h3>\n

In early March, TU Braunschweig welcomed a delegation from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)<\/a> Indore to its Campus. The visit was prompted by discussions regarding joint research and teaching collaborations between the two universities.<\/p>\n

\u25ba DFG: Guiding principles for AI in peer review<\/h3>\n

Since 16 April, AI has only been permitted in peer review in a supporting role. Key principles include confidentiality, transparency, quality assurance and accountability. Responsibility for the content of the expert report remains entirely with the person who produced it. An online information session<\/a> on this topic will take place on 22 April.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Knowledge Nugget #16: Chat AI \u2013 what\u2019s new?<\/h3>\n

The AI platform Chat AI (GWDG G\u00f6ttingen) offers teaching staff and students free, data-protected access to powerful AI models. On 23 April, media education specialist Florian Schalinski will demonstrate potential applications for teaching. Registration here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Call for submissions: Your photos from Future Day<\/h3>\n

On Future Day, 23 April, many school pupils will once again visit our institutes to gain an insight into science. For a photo gallery, you can send us photos by 26 April showing enthusiastic children at Future Day in your institution. Please include short captions, the photographer\u2019s name and a parental consent form<\/a> (download after logging in) for publication.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Fire, Water, Earth, Air: Lecture Series by the Institute of German Studies<\/h3>\n

To mark the 25th anniversary of the lecture series<\/a>, researchers from our university and guests will explore the four elements. On 21 April, Prof. Stefan Heuser will speak on \u201cThe Flood, Distress at Sea, Thirst for Life \u2013 Water in the Biblical Element\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Architecture students honoured<\/h3>\n

In the sponsorship award<\/a> organised by the Association of Architects for Hospital Construction and Healthcare (AGK) on the theme \u201cMy hospital is closing \u2013 what now?\u201d, Johannes Quirin was awarded second place and Julia Franziska Mack received a commendation. The projects were developed at the Institute for Structural Design, Industrial and Healthcare Construction (IKE).<\/p>\n

\u25ba Parking space registration<\/h3>\n

Due to an update, registration on the online parking management portal<\/a> will be temporarily unavailable from Friday at 12 noon until the end of the day on Sunday. From Monday, you will once again be able to create an account using your personal TU Braunschweig email address (NAME(at)tu-braunschweig.de) and register your vehicle(s).<\/p>\n

\u25ba Our darlings of the week<\/h3>\n

Sometimes doing good is really simple: our cleaning staff have collected returnable bottles and cans from the bins and donated the proceeds to the \u201cTafel\u201d and other causes. In doing so, they combine their daily efforts to keep the Campus clean with a valuable contribution to a good cause. A brilliant initiative \u2013 thank you very much!<\/p>\n
