\u25ba Bringing quantum technology into application more quickly<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The QVLS-iLabs future cluster is entering its second phase with \u20ac15 million in funding. Together with \u20ac8 million in own funds, \u20ac23 million will be available over the next three years to accelerate the transfer of state-of-the-art quantum technologies<\/a> to the market.<\/p>\n

\u25ba LED technology optimises building inspection<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In the \u201cTotalScope\u201d project, our university is working with industry partners to develop LED-based measuring devices. These are designed to monitor the condition of bridges, dams and buildings accurately, cost-effectively and in real time<\/a>. The aim is to make building inspection more efficient and detect damage at an early stage.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Art meets science<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The state of Lower Saxony is providing around three million euros in funding for \u201cGrounding the Human: Lower Saxony\u201d<\/a>, a project run by the Science and Art Lab at the Project House. The aim is to bring researchers together with international artists and develop new ideas for healthy, sustainable living in urban and rural areas.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Inaugural lecture<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Prof. Kai Richter, Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology, German Aerospace Center (DLR), will hold his inaugural lecture \u201cAerodynamische Technologien f\u00fcr energieeffiziente Flugzeuge von morgen\u201d on 11 February.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Awards from the Lower Saxony Chamber of Engineers Foundation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Two awards for final theses were given to our university by the foundation. Dr Sebastian Kantorski received an award for his doctoral thesis in transport engineering and Charlotta Reckleben received an award for her master’s thesis in civil engineering. Congratulations!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Prof. Sarah Rachut as an expert in the German Bundestag<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Data Governance Act is intended to enable the implementation of the EU Data Governance Act in Germany and thereby promote data use. Prof. Sarah Rachut from the Institute of Law contributed her expertise as an expert in the Committee for Digital Affairs and State Modernisation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Invitation: A decade of GradTUBS!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Our Graduate Academy GradTUBS has become the central point of contact for doctoral students at our university and also at the University of Fine Arts \u2013 for soft skills and career-relevant know-how. On 13 February, it will celebrate its anniversary<\/a> in style in the auditorium of the Haus der Wissenschaft. You are welcome to come along!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Sustainable strategies for more stable embankments<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u2026 are being developed by Chinese researcher Dr Xianlei Fu at the Institute of Geomechanics and Geotechnics and the Institute of Geoecology. Until the end of 2027, the Humboldt postdoctoral researcher<\/a> will be supervised by Prof. Marius Milatz and Prof. Magdalena Sut-Lohmann.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Architecture students sweep the board at the Laves Prize<\/strong><\/h3>\n

No fewer than seven projects<\/a> from the Department of Architecture were honoured by the Laves Foundation in Hanover. The first two prizes also went to students from our university \u2013 Laura Leinert and Milena Marie-Antoinette Nitsche. Congratulations!<\/p>\n

During the \u201cAdvanced Practicum Data Science\u201d at the Institute of Analysis and Algebra, students used machine learning methods to create exciting images. Which of the 27 images do you like best? Cast your vote now<\/a>!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Virtual Lunch Break \u2013 International Educational Concepts in the Digital Space<\/strong><\/h3>\n

On 12 February, Prof. Eckart Voigts (Institute of English and American Studies) will show how collaborative and intercultural online teaching can succeed at the interface between the humanities and natural sciences \u2013 and what potential digital international learning spaces<\/a> offer.<\/p>\n

Registration for the Language Centre\u2019s compact German courses<\/a> begins on 9 February at 10 a.m. Employees can also participate and improve their German language skills.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Call for tender (CFT): Award for the best research environment 2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cDie Junge Akademie\u201d and the VW Foundation are awarding \u20ac10,000 each to five research teams that enable excellent scientific work through good team culture, support for individual strengths and collaborative work. The application deadline<\/a> is 1 March.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New funding programme from the Gerda Henkel Foundation: \u201cProspect Utopia\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Postdoctoral researchers who are conducting research on the interpretation and shaping of the future<\/a> are eligible to apply. A total of 50 projects will be funded with up to \u20ac50,000 each. The application deadline is 15 April.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Our darlings of the week\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

are making a real mark: thanks to the Germany Scholarship, students at our university can concentrate fully on their studies while also building valuable networks. Congratulations to all 126 scholarship recipients<\/a>! Among them is business informatics student Ahmad Iqbal from Malaysia. He will also receive the DAAD Prize 2025<\/a> as the best international student at our university. Hats off and congratulations!<\/p>\n
