\u25ba NFF doctoral prizes awarded to two young researchers<\/b><\/h3>\n

First place, worth \u20ac4,000, went to Dr Silvia Thal, and second place, worth \u20ac1,000, went to Dr Joana M. Warnecke. Silvia Thal’s dissertation deals with a method for safety verification of highly automated driving functions; Joana Warnecke has developed a concept for health monitoring using various modes of transport. <\/span>Congratulations<\/span><\/a>!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba How are planets formed?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Prof. J\u00fcrgen Blum and his team from the Institute of Geophysics and Extraterrestrial Physics are participating in the ERC Advanced Grant project <\/span>\u201cGround Truth for Pebbles\u201d<\/span><\/a>, which investigates the formation of planets from tiny dust particles. Together with Professor Carsten Dominik from the Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy in Amsterdam, they are investigating how these particles grow into larger aggregates and eventually become planets.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba \u201cTravelling light\u201d: transparency in processes\/responsibilities<\/b><\/h3>\n

Ever searched for forms on the information portal but never found them? A team working on the transformation project is working to change this. User-centred tagging will make documents and processes easier to find in future. Ideas for new keywords can be submitted<\/span> here<\/span><\/a>. \u25ba A place that brings maths to life<\/b><\/h3>\n

… is the <\/span>Mathematical Learning Workshop<\/span><\/a>. To celebrate its 25th anniversary on 22 November, it is holding a festive colloquium at Campus North. Maths enthusiasts are invited to reflect on 25 years of creative learning and discover current projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba A warm welcome<\/b><\/h3>\n

\u2026 to <\/span>Prof. Julia Waldeyer<\/span><\/a>! In her research the Junior Professor of Educational Psychology focuses on how teaching and learning can be made more efficient, conscious and future-oriented. In our interview, she talks about how she came to teaching and learning psychology and her vision for the education of tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Thomas Naake is the new professor for the standardisation of biomolecular measurements<\/b><\/h3>\n

His appointment was made in cooperation between TU and PTB, thus connecting two strong research institutions. At BRICS, he conducts research on highly topical issues together with partners from the fields of medicine, biology and computer science. <\/span>In an interview<\/span><\/a>, Prof. Naake provides insights into his main areas of research.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Role2Role: Female high school students research batteries<\/b><\/h3>\n

In late October, 16 female high school students took part in the <\/span>Role2Role project research camp,<\/span><\/a> where they examined different types of batteries, their production and their recycling. Role2Role offers insights into socially relevant STEM topics.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Poetry lectureship: \u201cVisit of the middle-aged lady\u201d<\/b><\/h3>\n

She is renowned for her poetry and her innovative transmedia projects that bridge the gap between literature, visual arts and music. Nora Gomringer, author and performance artist, is now the new <\/span>Ricarda Huch Poetics Lecturer<\/span><\/a>. She will introduce herself on 20 November with a talk entitled \u201cProjects, Successful and Unsuccessful\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Inaugural lecture<\/b><\/h3>\n

Prof. Oleksandr Dobrovolskiy<\/span><\/a>, Division for Cryogenic Quantum Electronics within the Institute for Electrical Measurement Science and Fundamental Electrical Engineering, will hold his inaugural lecture \u201cCryogenic Quantum Electronics of Fluxons and Magnons\u201d on 20 November.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Networking across generations<\/b><\/h3>\n

Alumni*ae, students and lecturers from the <\/span>Digital Communication and Media Technologies (DiKuM)<\/span><\/a> Master’s degree programme recently met for a networking event at the Institute for Communications Technology. The event was organised by research assistants Carla Reinhardt and Evelyn Jonas, who are themselves alumnae of the course.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Clubbing instead of lectures at Profs@Turntables<\/b><\/h4>\n

At<\/span> Profs@Turntables<\/span><\/a>, students and guests will once again be clubbing for a good cause on 20 November. Professors and lecturers from TU Braunschweig, Ostfalia and the University of Fine Arts will be DJing at discotheques in Braunschweig. As every year, all proceeds will be donated.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Virtual Lunch Break: \u201cSustainability skills and how to measure them\u201d<\/b><\/h3>\n

\u2026 are the focus of the <\/span>lecture by Dr Mandy Singer-Brodowski<\/span><\/a> (University of Regensburg) on 20 November. She will present approaches from the supplementary course \u201cShaping Sustainability\u201d and discuss their significance for higher education.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba International CyberFestival 2025<\/b><\/h3>\n

On 18 and 20 November, innovation and internationality will once again take centre stage: the <\/span>hybrid event<\/span><\/a> is being organised by the Media Lab in collaboration with the University of Rhode Island. The programme will run at both universities and will be streamed online simultaneously. In addition to students, other TU members with an interest in technology are also invited to attend.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba First public conference of the OpenCultures climate future lab<\/b><\/h3>\n

How do you create a city that is fit for the future? On 21 November, the conference <\/span>\u201cAbout Open Cultures\u201d<\/span><\/a> will bring together science, practice and urban society at DenkRaum Braunschweig \u2013 with lectures, discussions and an exhibition on new ideas for joint action.<\/span> Register here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba \u201cCircular Mining: International Matchmaking for Horizon Europe Proposals\u201d<\/b><\/h3>\n

Cluster 4 of Horizon Europe will soon be publishing calls for proposals in the field of the circular economy and raw materials. In preparation for this, a<\/span> digital event<\/span><\/a> will take place on 24 November, where researchers from Germany, Finland, Canada and Sweden will have the opportunity to network. \u25ba Our darlings of the week<\/b><\/h3>\n

\u2026 <\/span>teach creatively, conduct dedicated research, and strengthen the campus community. Prof. Iordania Constantinou and students Luca Madita Nieding and Ahmad Iqbal Bin Mohd Shahir Shamsir have won the <\/span>Lower Saxony Science Award 2025<\/span><\/a>. Iqbal, who hails from Malaysia, is <\/span>paving the way for other international students<\/span><\/a>. Congratulations!<\/span><\/p>\n
