\u25ba Prof Angela Ittel re-elected as HRK Vice President<\/h3>\n

On 4 November, our President, Prof. Angela Ittel, has been re-elected to the Executive Board of the German Rectors’ Conference<\/a>. As HRK Vice President, she is taking charge of international affairs, equity and diversity.<\/p>\n

\u25ba TU spin-off receives \u201cexist\u201d research transfer funding<\/h3>\n

Doyam<\/a>, a start-up based at the Institute for Electrical Machines, Traction and Drives (IMAB), is developing hardware and software solutions that can accurately determine the state of charge and ageing of lithium-ion batteries. It has now received almost one million euros of funding for two years via the \u201cexist\u201d research transfer programme.<\/p>\n

\u25ba\u00a0 Prof Jan R\u00f6hnert receives Seume Literature Prize<\/h3>\n

Congratulations! Prof Jan R\u00f6hnert<\/a>, Institute of German Studies, has been awarded the Johann Gottfried Seume Prize for Literature for his literary non-fiction book \u2018Wildnisarbeit\u2019. A conversation about wild spaces, landscape conservation and nature writing.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Germany: The place to be? How we remain attractive as a country of immigration<\/h3>\n

This was the topic of discussion at the ZEIT Science Forum, held at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. Prof. Simone L\u00e4ssig from the Institute of History was one of the panellists. Listen to the discussion in the Deutschlandfunk audio library<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Workshop for PhD students: Knowledge Transfer with Impact<\/h3>\n

This one-day GradTUBS workshop, organised by the Knowledge Transfer team in the Transfer Service, is aimed at early-career researchers from all disciplines, and is designed to strengthen their individual explanatory skills and help them develop research-based impact projects. Places are still available for the 14 November workshop<\/a> at the Sandkasten-Zentrale\/4LAB<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba UK-German Funding Initiative in the Humanities<\/h3>\n

Joint call for proposals<\/a> from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the German Research Foundation (DFG) for research projects in the humanities has been published. The deadline for applications is 11 February 2026.<\/p>\n

\u25ba \u2018Travelling light\u2019: Central procurement\/warehouse<\/h3>\n

For \u2018travelling lighter\u2019 in everyday university life: This week, the \u2018Central Procurement\/Warehouse\u2019 team is presenting concepts to make procurement easier for new and experienced TU members. More information is available on the project website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba University elections 2025\/2026 \u2013 Student group<\/h3>\n

As part of the university elections at our university in the winter semester 2025\/2026, the election of representatives for the student group will be announced. Nominations can be submitted until 26 November. Further information can be found in the election announcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Parent-Child Gymnastics<\/h3>\n

The University Sports Centre is launching a new exercise programme for children on 19 November. The children’s gymnastics course, which is aimed at 2- to 4-year-olds, takes place on Wednesdays from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. in the hall at Beethovenstra\u00dfe 16. Qualified instructors will use playful exercises to promote motor skills and strengthen the children’s self-confidence. Further information on registration is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Health Week<\/h3>\n

\u2018Wellbeing@work&study\u2019: This is once again the motto of this year’s Health Week<\/a>. From 10 to 14 November, there will be an exciting programme focusing on health, exercise and holistic wellbeing.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New test offer from the University Library<\/h3>\n

Until the end of November, members of the TU have the opportunity to test the Pressreader<\/a> and read various newspapers and magazines online. The university library team welcomes feedback at journals@tu-braunschweig.de.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

\u2026 are all the people at our university who, by using recycled paper, have helped us to once again be among the rising stars of 2025 in the Papieratlas Hochschulwettbewerb<\/a> (Paper Atlas University Competition). This has saved us 335,675 litres of water and 75,735 kWh of energy compared to virgin fibre paper.<\/p>\n
