\n<\/b>On 18 August, construction work began on the Centre for Circular Production of Next Batteries and Fuel Cells (CPC)<\/a>. From 2027, around 150 scientists will work here on circular production and recycling processes for batteries and fuel cells. The project, with a volume of around \u20ac73 million, strengthens the BLB+ regional network as a driver for a sustainable energy transition.<\/p>\n
\n<\/b>The NFF is home to \u2018H2-iNFFra\u2019, a state-of-the-art research platform<\/a> for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies developed in close cooperation between TU Braunschweig and Fraunhofer IST. On 21 August, Science Minister Falko Mohrs officially handed over two funding approvals totalling around 4.3 million euros.<\/p>\n
\n<\/b>How can the decisions made by artificial intelligence be understood? Students in the Deep Learning Lab explored this question. Working in teams, they developed award-winning creative approaches<\/a> to make neural networks more transparent.<\/p>\n
\n<\/b>Nonlinear optimisation is a central field of modern mathematics and one of the nine topics covered by the DFG’s Priority Programme SPP 2458 \u2018Combinatorial Synergies\u2019, within which the Summer School is also located. The target audience for the Summer School from 28 August to 2 September<\/a> is doctoral students, but also advanced master’s students or postdocs at the beginning of their careers.<\/p>\n

\n<\/b>Prof. Monika Taddicken and Dr. Esther Greussing, from the Institute of Communication Science, recently hosted a scoping workshop on ‘AI and the Future of Science Communication’ <\/a>in Hanover. The workshop was funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. Around 30 international researchers from various disciplines exchanged views on how AI transforms science and its mediation in society.<\/p>\n
\n<\/b>From 14 to 17 September, Braunschweig will become the centre of German studies in Germany. Our university is hosting the 28th German Studies Conference. For many years, the conference has been a joint forum for German studies scholars from all over the world. Around 600 participants will gather at Campus North to exchange ideas. \n<\/b>We are clearing space in our warehouse and giving away copies of the TU photo book \u2018Campus in Concert \u2013 Lecture Hall, High Tech and Laboratory Work\u2019 by photographer Aginmar from 2005, as well as a book about J\u00fcrgen Weber, \u2018Sculptor, University Lecturer and Perception Researcher\u2019 from 2001. The books will be available in the foyer of the TU building at Bienroder Weg 97 until 29 August and can be taken free of charge.<\/p>\n
