From 19:30, the Audimax will become an arena for bright minds as researchers compete for the audience’s favour at the Science Slam, which kicks off CampusXperience. They will present their research in short, engaging talks. But who will wow the audience? Admission is free for students! If you can’t make it, you can watch the livestream<\/a> here.<\/p>\n

\u25ba \u201eScience up\u201c \u2013 Braunschweig’s science in the spotlight<\/h3>\n

With the new supra-regional ‘Science up’ campaign<\/a>, the Lion City is showcasing its scientific excellence, which radiates beyond the region. In collaboration with TU Braunschweig, PTB and DLR, the city and its marketing department are highlighting the region’s research strengths, as can be seen on large billboards in Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover and Magdeburg, as well as on social media.<\/p>\n

\u25ba TU Braunschweig achieves top positions in international sustainability ranking<\/h3>\n

The THE Impact Rankings 2025<\/a> evaluate universities’ contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). TU Braunschweig is ranked first and second in Germany for three SDGs and is one of the top 200 universities internationally.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Transfer: Braunschweig gets new incubator for high-tech start-ups<\/h3>\n

Braunschweig Zukunft GmbH is working with TU Braunschweig and PTB to promote start-ups in the region: HTI 2.0 is a comprehensive support programme for high-tech and deep-tech start-ups<\/a> in Lower Saxony that are in the growth phase, particularly in the fields of mobility, information technology, microelectronics and quantum technology.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Meteorological mega measurement campaign in the Alps<\/h3>\n

Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig will use its research aircraft to measure wind and turbulence in the Inn and Adige valleys<\/a> during 30 test flights. As part of an intensive international measurement campaign, wind parameters will be measured. Combined with data from stationary ground stations, these measurements will provide a comprehensive overview of the weather conditions for modelling purposes.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Heinrich B\u00fcssing Prize for research into frustrated materials<\/h3>\n

The Braunschweigische Hochschulbund and its foundation are honouring Dr Leonie Heinze for her exceptional doctoral thesis<\/a>. In her thesis, she studied frustrated magnetic materials, which have promising applications in areas such as the cooling of quantum computers. Congratulations!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Visit from China<\/h3>\n

In mid-June, a high-ranking delegation from Tongji University<\/a> visited TU Braunschweig. The two universities have been partners for 40 years. The visit focused on ways to expand cooperation in teaching and research, particularly in architecture, sustainable urban planning, and automotive engineering.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Prof Wistuba new President of the European Asphalt Technology Association<\/h3>\n

Prof Michael P. Wistuba<\/a>, Head of the Braunschweig Pavement Engineering Center (ISBS), was recently appointed President of the European Asphalt Technology Association (EATA). The organisation brings together European engineers and scientists involved in asphalt technology research.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Ecoversity Call for Applications<\/h3>\n

As part of the Ecoversity initiative, TU Braunschweig supports formal and informal formats that serve to build and strengthen networks. The call for applications<\/a> is aimed at all members of the university (technical and administrative staff, students, academic staff, researchers).<\/p>\n

\u25ba Climate Future Lab: Apply now!<\/h3>\n

The Lower Saxony Center for Climate Research is seeking a cross-location Climate Future Lab on the topic of ‘Long-term strategies for climate-resilient ecosystems and habitats in rural and peripheral regions’<\/a>, which is due to start in summer 2026. Applications for funding can be submitted until 3 November 2025. An information and networking event<\/a> will take place on 2 July.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Young scientists share their research with society<\/h3>\n

The \u2018Call for Impact\u2019<\/a> provides PhD and postdoctoral researchers with an opportunity to bring fresh perspectives to their research. Three applications were selected in the first of two calls in 2025. The Transfer Service funds impact projects that aim to have a social impact.<\/p>\n

\u25ba The postdoc programme for the second half of the year is now available online<\/h3>\n

Gain new skills and inspiration: Postdocs can explore topics such as career planning, conflict management, research funding, science communication and AI in various workshops, networking events and webcasts. The programme<\/a> is open to all postdocs at career stages R2\u2013R3.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Funding for gender studies topics<\/h3>\n

The Braunschweig Centre for Gender Studies offers opportunities for teaching assignments, guest lectures and student assistant roles in gender-related projects. The deadline for applications for the winter semester of 2025\/26 (guest lectures and assistants) and the summer semester of 2026 (teaching assignments) is 31 August 2025. \u25ba AI \u2013 my new favourite colleague?<\/h3>\n

The Central Human Resources Development department invites all employees and managers to attend the \u2018Impulsh\u00e4ppchen\u2019 (Impulse Bites) digital event series on 26 June, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. This time, Dr Romy Hilbig will be discussing AI. No registration is required. Further information about the event can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Award for research data in accordance with FAIR principles<\/h3>\n

The Lower Saxony State Initiative for Research Data Management is inviting entries for the 2025 FAIR Data and Software Award Lower Saxony until 10 August. They are seeking published research data and software<\/a> that adhere to the FAIR principles. Last year, researchers from Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig were among those honoured.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Knowledge nugget: AI tools for visual teaching and impressive presentations<\/h3>\n

On 30 June, the Digital Knowledge Nugget will focus on using generative AI to support university teaching (registration<\/a>). Three innovative tools \u2014 Napkin, Gamma and ChatGPT \u2014 will be presented as creative teaching aids. Co3Learn has also published a booklet on digital teaching, available from Nadine Maxrath<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

\u2026 is Prof Robert H\u00e4nsch from the Institute of Plant Biology. He gave an exclusive Children’s University lecture entitled ‘Why do trees get stressed?’ to pupils from the International School Braunschweig, who were visiting TU Braunschweig this week. Thank you very much for the great lecture and for your commitment! The international primary school pupils were thrilled, and we were impressed by how much they already knew about photosynthesis.<\/p>\n
