Through its two research projects, SE2A and QuantumFrontiers, the TU has established itself as a leading research location in nanotechnology, quantum physics and sustainable aviation. The clusters’ work forms a strong foundation for the \u201cEcoversity\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n At the Coastal Research Centre’s Large Wave Current Flume (GWK+), the <\/span>Leichtwei\u03b2 Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources<\/span><\/a> investigated the influence of dune grass on the resistance of coastal dunes. To this end, a storm surge scenario and vegetated dunes were realistically simulated.<\/span><\/p>\n But how can quantum technologies actually be measured? Technische Universit\u00e4t Braunschweig and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) are conducting joint research into precisely these limits of measurability, for example within the QuantumFrontiers Cluster of Excellence. Now, with \u201cHIQEQS\u201d, the two project partners are embarking on a German-Dutch collaboration with five other partners to develop a <\/span>new measurement concept<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Researchers Lajos Fohlmeister, Hendrik Traub and Jan Kube have succeeded in improving the <\/span>aerodynamic efficiency of aircraft wings<\/span><\/a>. They achieved this by using specially developed, 3D-printed suction panels to stabilise and optimise the boundary layer \u2013 the area of airflow immediately adjacent to the wing \u2013 in a targeted manner.<\/span><\/p>\n CampusXperience will kick off on 20 June at 7.30pm with a <\/span>Science Slam<\/span><\/a> in the Audimax, in collaboration with the House of Science. Six researchers from TU\u00a0 and its ecosystem have been invited to present their projects in entertaining, short lectures and inspire the audience with their research topics. Get your tickets <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n At the Future Tech Stage of the TU Braunschweig at the <\/span>University Future Festival (U:FF) 2025<\/span><\/a>, future technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality and quantum computing \u2013 and their use in higher education \u2013 were debated.<\/span><\/p>\n Professors of the Faculty of of Humanities and Education will give their inaugural lectures on 28 May:<\/span> Prof. Katrin Vorh\u00f6lter<\/span><\/a> about \u201cMathematik individuell, kreativ und selbstst\u00e4ndig betreiben \u2013 Mathematik f\u00fcr die Generation Zukunft\u201d and<\/span> Prof. Alexander B\u00fcssing<\/span><\/a> about \u201cDigitale Bildung f\u00fcr nachhaltige Entwicklung in einem reflexiven Biologieunterricht\u201d in lecture hall HB1.1, Botanical Garden.<\/span><\/p>\n This year, the <\/span>TU Teaching Awards<\/span><\/a> will be presented for the second time. Participants will develop ideas to be turned into concrete student projects that address the social issue of loneliness. These projects can then be implemented via the Sandkasten platform. Hanakata (National University of Singapore) will demonstrate how the production of renewable energy is reconfiguring territorial relations in Southeast Asia, and how sustainability transitions are reshaping concentrated and extended forms of urbanisation. The lecture will be held in English, admission is free.<\/span><\/p>\n In the next Knowledge Nugget on 28 May at 2.30pm, Dr Marie Ritter and Darien Tartler will demonstrate how to run successful meetings and explain how this can inform teaching.
