Together with its partners in the ecosystem, TU Braunschweig will develop into a collaborative, future-oriented place of learning, teaching, research and work. Many preparatory measures are currently underway. The deadline for the start of funding is 1 July. For a portion of the funds raised, university-wide, topic-specific calls for proposals are being prepared so that you, dear TU members, can contribute your ideas. We look forward to realising the collaborative ecosystem of the TU Braunschweig together with you.<\/span><\/p>\n The Science and Art Lab now is the first guest in the new <\/span>\u201cScience Window\u201d<\/span><\/a> at Waisenhausdamm 8 in Braunschweig, which opened on 4 March. Here, the research institutions of the ForschungRegion Braunschweig present their fields of research and results. The Science and Art Lab programme includes film screenings, discussions, lectures and workshops for schoolchildren until the beginning of June.<\/span><\/p>\n For an audio file to be a pleasure to listen to, a digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) must convert the digital MP3 information into an analogue audio track. A DAC doesn’t even break a sweat. But when it comes to applications such as 6G mobile communications, the best DACs reach their limits. Therefore, <\/span>Professors Vadim Issakov and Thomas Schneider<\/span><\/a> want to turn mediocre DACs into true all-rounders.<\/span><\/p>\n The Institute for Particle Technology in the Collaborative Research Centre \u201cAdditive Manufacturing in Construction\u201d (AMC) is investigating how to obtain recycled particles by recycling concrete from scrapped buildings for the 3D printing technology \u201cSelective Paste Intrusion\u201d. Our <\/span>picture of the month<\/span><\/a> for March shows a close-up of one such particle.<\/span><\/p>\n The \u201cCo-Adapted Braunschweig (COABS)\u201d project calls on Braunschweig residents to digitally enter places to cool off on hot days on a <\/span>cool places map<\/span><\/a> by 27 March. The results will be made available to the public on the internet.<\/span><\/p>\n With increasing digital connectivity, researchers have access to more personal data than ever before. Data protection, personal rights and the safety of individuals must be paramount when collecting data. To minimise ethical risks, a <\/span>new framework<\/span><\/a> should create transparency and ensure uniform compliance with ethical standards in research.<\/span><\/p>\n On 26 February 2025, Prof. Andreas H\u00f6rdt was elected to the executive committee of the German Geophysical Society (DGG) as <\/span>designated president at the general meeting<\/span><\/a> in Bochum. He will take over as president in 2027. Congratulations!<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>tool<\/span><\/a>, provided by the University Library, allows users to search the database using natural language in over 27,000 peer-reviewed journals and over 330,000 books and explore a wide range of research topics using automatically generated summaries. The database is available on site, via VPN or Shibboleth until the end of March. On 24 June, the graduate academy GradTUBS is organising a workshop for female doctoral students on the topic of <\/span>\u201cSalary Negotiations for Women\u201d<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n On the occasion of International Women’s Day (8 March), the SE\u00b2A Cluster of Excellence, together with the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), is organising the seminar <\/span>\u201cBurning for Science \u2013 A Woman in a Technical Field\u201d<\/span><\/a> on 13 March at 4 p.m. Katharina Kohse-H\u00f6inghaus, a pioneer in the field of combustion, will present selected examples of current research and reflect on important elements for an academic career as a woman in a technical field.<\/span><\/p>\n Researchers from India and Germany have until 31 March to submit applications to the Indo-German Science and Technology Centre for funding of a joint project in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The course starts in April and registration is now open.<\/span><\/p>\n Dr Anton M\u00f6llerke<\/span><\/a> from the Institute of Organic Chemistry has been awarded the 2025 DECHEMA Doctoral Prize for Natural Product Research. He succeeded in exploring the extraordinary chemistry of collembolans (springtails), which differs significantly from the chemistry of insects, and discovered a large number of natural products. Congratulations!<\/span><\/p>\n The focus of this call is to enable doctoral and postdoctoral researchers to plan and implement their own impact projects with societal groups and organisations in a multi-directional and co-creative way, thus enriching their own research with new ideas. <\/span>Funding criteria<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n The region’s most talented young researchers presented their projects at the <\/span>regional \u201cJugend forscht\u201d competition<\/span><\/a> in Braunschweig last Friday. TU Braunschweig was there with numerous hands-on activities and information. It supported the jury with eight scientists and donated two special prizes. Congratulations to Marielle Elfers and Simon Kawohl for their second place in the Physics category and to Jannat Touati for a special prize.
