On Monday 27 January, the nationwide day of remembrance, the TU Braunschweig will commemorate the victims of National Socialism. At the <\/span>university-wide event<\/span><\/a>, which will take place at 2.30 pm in front of the old building, TU members will have the opportunity to commemorate the victims with a minute’s silence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Reminder Hochschulwahlen<\/b><\/h3>\n

The <\/span>online University elections<\/span><\/a> started yesterday! You can help shape the future of our University by voting before 12 noon on 23 January. Members of the Senate and their deputies, Faculty Councils, the Commission for Equality and the Doctoral Candidate Representation are up for election. Students also elect the student parliament, student representives and student group councils. Instructions on how to vote can be found <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Nord Stream pipelines: methane emissions analysed after damage<\/b><\/h3>\n

In 2022, the HELiPOD helicopter towed probe from TU Braunschweig and DLR carried out methane measurements over the Baltic Sea. The <\/span>analyses of the measurement results<\/span><\/a> have now been published in \u201cNature\u201d and \u201cNature Communications\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba \u201cThere is entrepreneurial potential in all of us\u201d<\/b>
\n<\/b><\/h3>\n

Bastian Kindermann<\/span><\/a> is the new Professor for Business Creation and Succession at the Institute of Automotive Management and Industrial Production. His research focuses on entrepreneurship, digitalisation, innovation ecosystems and strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Electric, connected and automated<\/b><\/h3>\n

The BMBF project AUTOtech.agil is creating an open software and hardware architecture for the mobility system of the future. The Institute of Automatic Control and the Institute of Data Technology and Communication Networks are involved in the joint project. A 92-page<\/span> newsletter<\/span><\/a> summarises the progress made so far.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>TU expert in the battery podcast<\/b><\/h3>\n

Tesla is said to have achieved a breakthrough in dry coating the electrodes of electric car batteries. Marcella Horst from the Institute of Particle Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) discusses whether this hurdle in cell production has really been overcome and what advantages it offers in the <\/span>\u201cCharged\u201d battery podcast<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Wool \u2013 an undervalued resource<\/b><\/h3>\n

Professor Folke K\u00f6bberling and the Institute of Architecture-Related Art are working intensively with wool as an underestimated resource. Together with students, she is experimenting with the potential of sheep’s wool for architecture. In her book <\/span>\u201cWollbau\u201d<\/span><\/a>, Folke K\u00f6bberling gives an insight into the various projects using this natural material.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Vilnius Tech visited TU Braunschweig<\/b><\/h3>\n

In early January, a <\/span>delegation from the Lithuanian partner university<\/span><\/a> visited TU Braunschweig to discuss, among other things, the joint double degree programme in mechanical engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Knowledge nugget \u2013 the snack after lunch<\/b><\/h3>\n

Marius Seebach will demonstrate the potential of online whiteboards for teaching in a practice-oriented 45-minute workshop on 27 January. The event is organised by Co3Learn, a joint project of the universities of Braunschweig, G\u00f6ttingen and Hanover. \u25ba <\/span>Change! Fellowships<\/b><\/h3>\n

Researchers who would like to conduct research on transformation processes together with stakeholders outside of academia can submit their <\/span>research proposals<\/span><\/a> until the beginning of April (early career phase: junior research groups) or probably the second half of 2025 (established researchers: research groups). The call guidelines are currently being revised and are expected to be published next week.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Presentations updated<\/b><\/h3>\n

The new <\/span>presentations<\/span><\/a> provide an overview of TU Braunschweig. You can use the slides for external presentation and customize them individually.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Blood donation on the main campus<\/b><\/h3>\n

On 21 and 22 January, the German Red Cross will be present with its <\/span>blood donation vehicle<\/span><\/a> on the main campus between 11am and 5pm. <\/span>Appointments<\/span><\/a> to donate blood can be booked in advance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Invitation to the Impact Learning Final Event<\/b><\/h3>\n

At the <\/span>Institute Wirtschaftsinformatik – Service Information Systems<\/span><\/a>, Impact Learning is being implemented this semester in the Master’s programme \u201c<\/span>Digitale Transformation: Kooperatione<\/span>\u201d. Five groups of students are demonstrating how they can make a difference in society through collaboration. Interested parties are invited to the final event on 23 January in room SN 19.3.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the Week<\/b><\/h3>\n

Music history is full of talented women composers. However, their compositions are often underrepresented compared to those of their male colleagues \u2013 even in the repertoire of our university orchestra. Our orchestra wants to change this by presenting a whole universe of phenomenal music by female composers in its <\/span>end-of-semester concerts<\/span><\/a> entitled \u201cFemininomenom \u2013 Symphonic Music by Women Composers\u201d. The concerts will take place on 25 January at 7pm, 26 January at 5pm and 28 January at 8pm in the Audimax.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
