In a <\/span>video<\/span>, the Executive Board welcomes all members of the university with personal words and looks ahead to the coming months.<\/span><\/p>\n From 16 January from 12 noon until 23 January, 12 noon, you can help shape the future of our university with your vote. In the <\/span>online university elections<\/span><\/a>, you can elect the members of the Senate and their deputies, the Faculty Councils, the Commission for Equality and the Doctoral Candidate Representation. Students also elect the student parliament, student representives and student group councils.<\/span><\/p>\n President Angela Ittel takes over the chairmanship of the <\/span>ForschungRegion Braunschweig<\/span><\/a> this year. She succeeds Prof. Folkhard Isermeyer, President of the Th\u00fcnen Institute. Under her leadership, the Salon der Wissenschaft, which takes place on 18 June, will be further developed.<\/span><\/p>\n Julia Gebert<\/span><\/a> is the new Professor of Waste Management and Material Cycles at the Leichtwei\u00df Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources. The biologist and soil scientist, who previously worked at TU Delft in the Netherlands, combines waste management with the navigability of waterways and coastal protection in her research.<\/span><\/p>\n Direct communication by scientists via their own social media channels played an important role in the public debate during the coronavirus pandemic. In a DFG-funded project, the Institute of Communication Science investigated how this changed science communication. <\/span>Prof. Monika Taddicken <\/span><\/a>talks about the results in an interview.<\/span><\/p>\n In May 2024, we stopped communicating via the official TU Braunschweig profile on the social media platform \u201cX\u201d. On 10 January, more than 60 other German-language universities and research initiatives said goodbye to \u201cX\u201d in a joint campaign. TU Braunschweig supports the <\/span>joint appeal<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n The lectures and panel discussion from this year’s Abt Jerusalem Prize ceremony are now available as videos on the <\/span>Abt Jerusalem Academy’s YouTube channel<\/span><\/a>, including Prof Thomas Spengler on supply chains in e-mobility and Dr Imke Joormann on emissions targets in aviation.<\/span><\/p>\n The next application period for the <\/span>DaF\/DaZ programme<\/span><\/a> for the summer semester runs from 13 to 26 January. Postdocs and staff can also acquire a certificate of academic and didactic aptitude for tasks related to German as a foreign and second language. An online information session with registration via Stud.IP will take place on 24 January.<\/span><\/p>\n In the Transfer Service workshop \u201cImpact Learning \u2013 Definition, Wirkung und Sichtbarmachung von Impact Projekten\u201d, lecturers and staff work together on the topic of practical projects in teaching. The aim is to develop courses in which projects are developed with and for partners in practice. New participants are always welcome. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to <\/span>Astrid Sebastian<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n The National Contact Point for climate, energy and mobility presents the <\/span>calls<\/span><\/a> of 2025 in six dedicated online events between 21 and 29 January. Registration is required.<\/span><\/p>\n Trumpets, trombones and saxophones of all sizes, accompanied by a five-piece rhythm section, will play at the <\/span>TU BigBand concert<\/span><\/a> on 14 January at 8pm in the auditorium of the Haus der Wissenschaft. The programme includes classics by Count Basie and Duke Ellington, standards by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Nat Adderly as well as contemporary arrangements by Pat Metheny and Chick Corea. Admission is free.<\/span><\/p>\n Under the motto <\/span>\u201cIce Breaker\u201d<\/span><\/a>, the Institute for Music and Music Education invites you to a concert in the St. Andreaskirche in Braunschweig on 17 January. The musical programme ranges from classical music and jazz to rock and pop. Entrance is free, but donations are welcome.<\/span><\/p>\n Three times, on 18, 19 and 21 January, the <\/span>TU Choir<\/span><\/a> will present its programme on the theme of competition in musical works at different venues. The programme includes \u201cWe are the Champions\u201d (Queen), \u201cDer Kuckuck und der Esel\u201d (Henric Wagenmann) and the spoken \u201cFussball-Report\u201d by Heinz Benker. The entrance is free.<\/span><\/p>\n An eventful year lies behind us. What was moving, what was important? With the traditional <\/span>review in pictures<\/span><\/a> we would like to look back on a year full of great Darlings and events, be it research projects, exhibitions, awards or events.
