Redaktion: <\/span>Hannah Kre\u00df<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>planned research building<\/span><\/a> for the \u201cCentre for Circular Production of Next Batteries and Fuel Cells\u201d (CPC) at Research Airport has cleared an important hurdle: The budget committee in the state parliament approved the financing plan on 4 December. At the CPC, more than150 scientists will be researching the circular production of energy storage systems.<\/span><\/p>\n Professor Stefanie Kroker<\/span><\/a> has received a Consolidator Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) worth almost two million euros. With her working group, she is researching optical resonators, the component that makes laser systems the most precise instrument known to mankind. Congratulations!<\/span><\/p>\n On 1 January 2025, <\/span>Professor Tim Fingscheidt<\/span><\/a> from the Institute for Communications Technology (IfN) will be appointed an IEEE Fellow. Professor Fingscheidt receives this special honour \u201cfor contributions to speech enhancement systems and their evaluation\u201d. All three active professors at the IfN are now IEEE Fellows, as is the former head of the institute, Professor Ulrich Reimers. Congratulations!<\/span><\/p>\n Professor Oliver V\u00f6lkerink<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Institute of Mechanics and Adaptronics, will hold his inaugural lecture <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Wie kann nachhaltiger Leichtbau f\u00fcr die Mobilit\u00e4t der Zukunft gelingen? Mit Funktionsintegration!<\/span>\u201d<\/span> on 12 December.<\/span><\/p>\n The Hermann Blenk Research Award, Hermann Blenk Award for the best dissertation, the Karl Doetsch Young Talent Award and the VDI Aerospace Award for the best student work in aerospace technology were presented as part of the <\/span>Research Day<\/span><\/a> of the Lower Saxony Aerospace Research Centre (NFL) on 28 November.<\/span><\/p>\n Two TU Braunschweig spin-offs, Aeon Robotics and PhySens, were awarded the<\/span> Braunschweig Start-up Prize<\/span><\/a> on 4 December. Braunschweigische Landessparkasse and Braunschweig Zukunft GmbH awarded the prize for the eighth time. Innovative business ideas of young companies from Braunschweig are honoured. Congratulations!<\/span><\/p>\n After a pilot phase, the <\/span>Media Lab<\/span><\/a> is now officially operational. Teachers, staff and students can use the experimental space in the old building to try out didactic scenarios and methods of digitally supported teaching and digital work. They are supported by a team from the Project House.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The University Library is participating in the project <\/span>\u201c<\/span>FDM Basisdienste f\u00fcr Niedersachsen<\/span>\u201d<\/span>. The goal of the project is to strengthen research data management (RDM) in Lower Saxony and make it easier to work with research data. As part of the project, additional RDM services will be integrated into the Academic Cloud. To support this, everyone who works with research data is invited to take part in a 10-minute <\/span>survey<\/span><\/a> until 15 January.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As the start of a recruiting partnership with Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), our <\/span>Research Service will visit<\/span><\/a> the campus and offer an information session for interested students and doctoral candidates who would like to find out more about a research stay at TU Braunschweig.<\/span><\/p>\n With a lecture on the\u00a0 <\/span>\u201c<\/span>spirit of the future<\/span>\u201d<\/span>, Professor Frederik G. Pferdt motivated the participants of the <\/span>Mobility Startup Day<\/span><\/a> on 2 December to drive change forward. Around 180 representatives from business, politics and science were guests at the NFF and discussed new technologies and visionary business ideas for the mobility of tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n The 15th call for proposals of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative for researchers at risk will be opened on 9 December. The application deadline is 14 February. For researchers at risk who are already in the Schengen area, a Bridge Fellowship can be applied for until 3 January 2025. The group is researching <\/span>manufacturing technologies for use in space<\/span><\/a>. The aim is to manufacture structures or even entire spacecraft and stations in space.<\/span><\/p>\n In the series \u201cPhysics on Saturday mornings\u201d, Santa Claus will drop by on 7 December. He will be seeking advice from Braunschweig physicists on how best to deliver his presents. A <\/span>Christmas lecture<\/span><\/a> in the lecture hall below the Audimax with Prof. Andreas H\u00f6rdt and Prof. Stefan S\u00fcllow.<\/span><\/p>\n President Angela Ittel and the TU Choir invite all staff and students to a <\/span>Community Advent singing<\/span><\/a> on 11 December at 12 noon on Universit\u00e4tsplatz. Songs such as \u201cJingle Bells\u201d, \u201cOh Tannenbaum\u2019 and \u201cLet it snow\u201d are on the programme.
