The prize, worth a total of 109,000 euros, recognises outstanding achievements in research, transfer, teaching and studies. The platform, coordinated by the Institute of Construction Design, Industrial and Health Care, provides practical solutions on how to integrate structural health protection into the planning of new and existing buildings.<\/span><\/p>\n Scientists from the fields of architecture and engineering have recently published a <\/span>manifesto<\/span><\/a> for a sustainable, cost-effective and socially acceptable climate policy in the building sector. The manifesto is the founding document of the \u201cInitiative Praxispfad CO2-Reduktion im Geb\u00e4udesektor\u201d, whose initiators include Prof Elisabeth Endres from the Institute for Building Climatology and Energy in Architecture.<\/span><\/p>\n The Institute of Transport, Railway Construction and Operation and the Institute of Geophysics and Extraterrestrial Physics, together with DLR and BSVG in Braunschweig, recently carried out several <\/span>night-time tram measurements<\/span><\/a> in Braunschweig to investigate different track types and make recommendations for future railway lines. The so-called ‘Traminator’ from 1981 was used for this purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n Congratulations to David Anton and Prof. Henning Wessels from the Institute of Computational Modelling in Civil Engineering! Together with scientists from TU Clausthal, they were awarded the <\/span>FAIR Data and Software Award Lower Saxony 2024<\/span><\/a> in the \u201cDataset\u201d category at the Data Days Lower Saxony.<\/span><\/p>\n Prof Philip Yuan<\/span><\/a> from Tongji University in Shanghai recently visited the Institute of Structural Design. He talked about his work integrating digital manufacturing technologies into real construction projects. There are plans to extend the collaboration between the scientists.<\/span><\/p>\n During his semester abroad at the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia at the end of October, architecture student <\/span>Jonas Westphal<\/span><\/a> directly witnessed the flood disaster in southern Spain and helped with the rescue work. He reports on his very personal experiences in our magazine.<\/span><\/p>\n Jost Othmer<\/span><\/a>, Master’s graduate in History and German Studies, has been awarded the Ivan Hirst Prize of the Volkswagen AG Corporate Archives. This is in recognition of his Master’s thesis, supervised by Prof. Christian Kehrt and Dr Christian G\u00f6tter, on the introduction of the computer at VW using the example of the NC machine tool. Please register online or in person.<\/span><\/p>\n On 25 November, scientists from the Institute of Internal Combustion Engines and Fuel Cells at the Nieders\u00e4chsisches Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik (NFF) will provide <\/span>insights into current research projects to make hydrogen<\/span><\/a> fit for the future. The programme includes a tour of the Hydrogen Terminal and short presentations on the use of hydrogen in mobility.<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>programme<\/span><\/a>, which lasts several months, supports researchers from various disciplines who are working on socially relevant topics and would like to open up their work to social actors in a collaborative format. The focus is on bringing together suitable experts from science, business and organised civil society.
