Under the direction of DLR Bremen, the <\/span>LUWEX research project<\/span><\/a> has developed a method for this purpose that has now been successfully tested on a large scale at the TU’s Institute of Geophysics and Extraterrestrial Physics in an experimental phase lasting several months.<\/span><\/p>\n On 1 November, full-time Vice President for Human Resources, Finance and Infrastructure <\/span>Dietmar Smyrek began his third term<\/span><\/a>. He has already been confirmed by the Senate and appointed by the MWK for another eight years in June 2023. Smyrek has been a member of the Presidential Board in this capacity since 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n With a research fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, <\/span>Dr Pearl Li Yuzhu<\/span><\/a> from the National University of Singapore is conducting research at the Leichtwei\u00df Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources. Together with Prof. Nils Goseberg’s team, she will investigate the influence of oyster reefs on waves and currents, as well as soil liquefaction around wind turbines.<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>mission statement<\/span><\/a> and the <\/span>key points<\/span><\/a> of the Central Administration’s strategy based on it have been revised and updated. The strategy points describe long-term development activities and provide a secure framework for day-to-day work, help improve support for core processes and form the basis for annual target agreements.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In our <\/span>picture of the month<\/span><\/a> November, we see how artists Niels Weijer and Mike O\u2019Connor took an unusual approach to entering this world during the \u2018Highlights of Physics 2024\u2019, which took place in Hannover and Braunschweig in September. Instead of microscopes and interferometers, they used light, music and dance to enter the quantum realm.<\/span><\/p>\n On 11 November the <\/span>Media Lab<\/span><\/a> at TU Braunschweig will be officially opened. Interested parties are welcome to visit the lab in the old main building. In addition, the <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Focus KO Toolbox\u201d and <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Focus Medientechnik\u201d events invite you to try out the technologies and devices during the opening week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On 29 October, Dr Michael Fr\u00f6hlich from the Technical University of Munich was awarded the <\/span>St\u00f6bich Entrepreneurship Doctoral Prize 2024<\/span><\/a> for his dissertation. In it, he investigates the effect of university entrepreneurship programmes on the start-up activities of participants. Congratulations to him!<\/span><\/p>\n On 25 October, the Alumni-Bau association invited representatives from companies, large corporations, engineering firms and authorities – all alumni of our university \u2013 to the <\/span>Job Expo<\/span><\/a> in the Architecture Pavilion. Students were able to exchange ideas with companies in panel discussions and one-on-one meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n As part of the 25th anniversary of the Long Night of Museums in Munich, the <\/span>Collaborative Research Centre \u201cAdditive Manufacturing in Construction\u201d (AMC)<\/span><\/a> offered insights into the future of construction in workshops and live demonstrations. For example, small clay houses were printed.<\/span><\/p>\n The DAAD has released its third call for proposals for 2024 in October:<\/span> 13 attractive funding programmes<\/span><\/a> offer university members the opportunity to initiate and expand exciting international projects in study, research, teaching, and administration.<\/span><\/p>\n As of September, a further<\/span> seven teaching projects<\/span><\/a> have received funding from the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre as part of the ProDiGI funding programme. The<\/span> International Teaching Lab<\/span><\/a> of the Project House is delighted with the successful kick-off of the funding round and the great commitment to the expansion of international teaching!<\/span><\/p>\n Professor Tanja Kessel, TU Institute for Infrastructure and Real Estate Management, took part in a <\/span>panel discussion at the OECD’s Resilience Days<\/span><\/a>, where she discussed the topic of <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Defence Procurement – Procurement in Defence Construction\u201d with leading experts.<\/span><\/p>\n … is being researched by Daniel Jankowski, a PhD student at the Institute of History. In the <\/span>magazine <\/span><\/a>of the Lower Saxony Center for Climate Research, he presents his project and explains the various motives behind the transformation of coastal landscapes.<\/span><\/p>\n … is the invitation from the <\/span>State Initiative Research Data Management Lower Saxony<\/span><\/a> on 13 November in Hannover and on 14 November online. In addition to free lectures and workshops on topics such as organising the research process and securing and reusing data, there will also be time for networking.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On <\/span>19. November<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>4. Dezember<\/span><\/a> there will be two staff training sessions on the topic of Producing Your Own Podcasts – Recording in the Studio.
