However, it is difficult for people to imagine what it is really like at the frontiers of light and matter. Even the objects at the heart of the research are so small and alien that no one knows exactly what they look like. In our picture of the month, we see how artists Niels Weijer and Mike O&#8217;Connor took an unusual approach to entering this world during the &#8216;Highlights of Physics 2024&#8217;, which took place in Hannover and Braunschweig in September.
