\u25ba <\/span>TU Braunschweig submits follow-up applications for two clusters of excellence<\/b><\/h3>\n

Since 2019, the two research projects <\/span>\u201c<\/span>SE\u00b2A \u2013 Sustainable and Energy Efficient Aviation<\/span>\u201d<\/span> and <\/span>\u201c<\/span>QuantumFrontiers<\/span>\u201d<\/span> at TU Braunschweig have been funded as part of the Excellence Strategy of the German state and federal governments. On 22 August, both clusters submitted <\/span>follow-up applications<\/span><\/a> to secure continued funding for another seven years. We keep our fingers crossed!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Contaminated industrial sites in the permafrost<\/b><\/h3>\n

During their <\/span>expedition to the Canadian Arctic<\/span><\/a>, Professor Antje Schwalb and PhD student Emma Cameron from the Institute of Geosystems and Bioindication are investigating the dangers of contaminated industrial sites in the permafrost. In the Mackenzie Delta, they are examining the impact of climate change and potential drilling fluid spills on local water ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Gender asterisks: Less understandable in the singular than in the plural?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Does it make a difference whether the gender asterisk is used in the singular or the plural? The <\/span>Institute of Educational Psychology<\/span><\/a> investigated this in two experiments.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Barefoot through Wittenberge<\/b><\/h3>\n

An exhibition about the streets and pavements of the town of Wittenberge opens at the Wittenberge City Museum in September \u2013 with a barefoot trail, stories and historical views. The exhibition has been supported by students from the <\/span>Braunschweig Pavement Engineering Centre<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>US students at the Institute of Plant Biology<\/b><\/h3>\n

Three students from the USA report<\/span><\/a> on their research stay at the Institute of Plant Biology with Prof. Boas Pucker. They are investigating the genome of the cacao plant and the tropical potato manioc.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>More workshops on the sustainability strategy<\/b><\/h3>\n

Workshops<\/span><\/a> will also be offered in September to further develop the recently adopted sustainability strategy. On 3 September, the focus will be on energy efficiency and sufficiency and how energy and resource consumption can be optimised at TU. On 17 September, the focus will be on campus design and the campus as a real-world laboratory for sustainability. All interested TU members are cordially invited.<\/span><\/p>\n

CESAER Annual Meetings 2024, hosted by the University of Strathclyde, will feature an <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Images of Research<\/span>\u201d<\/span>: Challenging images of science, designed by researchers, are intended to encourage viewers to learn more about research and its impact. Interested researchers are invited to submit their <\/span>contributions till 10 September<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/span>Annual conference of the GAIN24<\/b><\/h3>\n

TU Braunschweig participates in the <\/span>annual conference<\/span><\/a> of the German Academic International Network (GAIN24) in San Francisco, presents current offers at the Talent Fair and offers a workshop on <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Female Career Advancement \u2013 from Equal Opportunities to Diversity in STEM<\/span>\u201d<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
