On 26 September, the newly founded Science and Art Lab, together with the SE\u00b2A Cluster of Excellence and in cooperation with the Braunschweig International Film Festival, invites you to the short film evening Fly High<\/a>. Look forward to the first presentation of the SE\u00b2A image film, an exciting panel discussion on science and art, guided tours of the institute, a varied short film programme, snacks and drinks. Tickets<\/a> can be reserved here free of charge.<\/p>\n After the sustainability strategy has been adopted, individual topics will be presented in workshops and ideas for future steps will be developed. On 20 August, the focus will be on mobility and how business trips, stays abroad and urban mobility can be made more sustainable. The workshop on 22 August will discuss the measures that digitisation can take to contribute to greater sustainability at TU Braunschweig. All interested TU members are cordially invited (dates and registration<\/a>).<\/p>\n The JUICE explorer will have to perform numerous flyby manoeuvres to reach the Jupiter system. The first and probably most spectacular manoeuvre<\/a> of this kind will take place on the evenings of 19 and 20 August. TU Braunschweig is involved in the mission, among other things with a magnetic field measuring device (magnetometer).<\/p>\n In the HypoWave+ research project<\/a>, a farm in Lower Saxony is currently implementing a particularly water-efficient process for the hydroponic cultivation of vegetables using high-quality recycled wastewater. One goal: to enable regional food production in times of climate change despite water scarcity.<\/p>\n High-performance batteries that can be charged quickly, have a long lifespan and at the same time guarantee a sufficiently high energy density \u2013 that is the goal of the HiPoBat High Power Batteries research project<\/a>. The Institute of Particle Technology is involved in this project. These energy storage devices are used in electric mobility, power tools and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).<\/p>\n Research at the world’s highest salt lake: Dr Anja Schwarz<\/a> from the Institute of Geosystems and Bioindication took part in an international drilling campaign at Nam Co in Tibet. The researchers were able to retrieve 1,400 metres of lake sediment. The material provides an insight into the climate of the past.<\/p>\n \u2026 will take place on 16 and 17 September at the BRICS under the title “Illuminating the Brain: Emerging Tools and Technologies in Neuroscience” to promote the exchange of scientific knowledge and networking, especially for young scientists. Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral students are therefore particularly welcome. Lectures will focus on topics such as purity and social order in Rome and the (im)purity of water in ancient Greece.<\/p>\n The Summer School<\/a> on 23 and 24 September at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society in Berlin is aimed at scientists who want to learn how to create their own communication strategy for their research and how to deal with possible hate speech attacks. The deadline for applications is 19 August.<\/p>\n On August 22, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is offering an information session on the Henriette Herz Scouting Program<\/a>. This enables selected professors to propose up to three early career researchers for a Humboldt Fellowship.<\/p>\n On September 11, the workshop will take place at BRICS as part of FEMnet<\/a>. Participants will receive support with career choices in science, business, the public sector or their own company. It encourages reflection on personal strengths and values as well as the use of career development tools and “design thinking”. Registration is possible until August 26<\/a>.<\/p>\n Six students of aerospace and sustainable energy technology developed the concept for a futuristic, sustainable and economical short-haul aircraft<\/a> alongside their master’s degree. On 8 August, they presented their design at the Centre for Applied Aeronautical Research (ZAL) in Hamburg. Congratulations!<\/p>\n At the Institute of Jet Propulsion and Turbomachinery, students of the “E-Foil Lab”<\/a> are further developing a foilboard \u2013 for example, by adding a self-developed propeller to achieve a gliding flight. The outdoor tests in the lake were successful!<\/p>\n Starting on 1 September, you can collect kilometres for the city cycling event in Braunschweig again! We hope for a large team from TU Braunschweig to defend the title and set a new record. Register now<\/a> \u2013 because every kilometre counts!<\/p>\n The next campus flea market will take place on 23 August from 4 to 7:30 p.m. \u2013 this time not in the Grotrian, but open-air at Campus Nord<\/a>. After browsing, there will be the opportunity to end the evening together with some light music.
