\u25ba Excellence strategy: ConEcT draft proposal unfortunately not in next round<\/h3>\n

Last Friday, the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced which pre-proposals have been selected for the next round of the Cluster of Excellence funding line. Unfortunately, our proposal for sustainable construction (Transformative Construction Site Ecosystems – ConEcT) together with the TU Munich is not one of the selected projects. “Many thanks to everyone involved for the extensive preparatory work that went into the application. We will continue to develop this area of research at our university. We are convinced of the great potential of the scientists involved, their research and its importance for a climate-neutral future,” says President Angela Ittel.<\/p>\n

\u25ba ERC Consolidator Grant for Prof Nils Goseberg<\/h3>\n

Prof. Nils Goseberg<\/a> from the Leichtwei\u00df Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources (LWI) has been awarded the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant for his groundbreaking project “AngryWaters” to protect coasts from extreme flow events. His project will be funded with around two million euros over five years. We congratulate him on this award!<\/p>\n

\u25ba First Presidential Lecture on 15 February<\/h3>\n

Braunschweig Scientific Society (BWG) and TU Braunschweig jointly initiate a public lecture series featuring outstanding scientists to provide insights into their research and engage in discussions on socially relevant issues. At the inaugural event on 15 February<\/span><\/a> Professor Tina Malti will deliver a lecture on the topic \u201cPaths to a Humane Global Community\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba CO_WETTBEWERB on North Campus<\/h3>\n

The cooperative participation and planning process for the CO_LIVING CAMPUS enters its third round in March with the CO_WETTBEWERB<\/span><\/a>. Four invited offices with expertise in urban planning and cooperative neighbourhood development will work with students on site to develop and present urban planning scenarios. Students can apply until 15 February.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba For the spontaneous: “AI in your own research practice”<\/h3>\n

Be it AI-supported search for literature, data analysis or introspection. Biochemist Daniel Mertens<\/span><\/a> from the German Cancer Centre in Heidelberg will present the possibilities, but also the limits and risks of AI in research practice to scientists live in the old building or via Zoom from 4 pm today.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25ba Start of application period: “F\u00fchren mit Kurs”<\/h3>\n

Strengthening leadership skills, exchanging ideas with colleagues and actively engaging with the university’s strategy and its significance for leadership. This is what the TU-specific and practice-oriented programme “F\u00fchren mit Kurs (Leading on track)”<\/a> offers. Experienced managers have until 18 February to apply.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Lecture: Infinite depth of black holes<\/h3>\n

TU physics education experts Dr Azadeh Ghanbar and Tim Overwin will talk about how we can listen to the universe using gravitational waves on 13 February at 6.30pm as part of the “Invisible Worlds” exhibition<\/a> at the Hinter Aegidien State Museum.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Theory becomes practice: Flight test application<\/h3>\n

The Institute of Flight Guidance is once again offering two flight tests<\/a> for students in the summer semester. In the first flight test laboratory, Bachelor students can determine aerodynamic parameters, while in the second, Master students can digitally record and analyse scientific parameters.<\/p>\n

\u25ba iTUBS Transformittag: Research transfer, networks and start-ups<\/h3>\n

The iTUBS Transformittag will take place on 20 February at the Haus der Wissenschaft. Register now<\/span><\/a> for the networking format and get an insight into the latest iTUBS developments such as Singapore, HI!CHALLENGE and conference management HI!CONFERENCES.<\/p>\n

\u25ba North German Science Award 2024: Call for applications launched<\/h3>\n

This year, the \u20ac250,000 award<\/a> focuses on work in the humanities and social sciences. Applications are now open to scholars from the North whose topics have been developed in transnational collaboration.<\/p>\n

\u25ba How are regional companies dealing with the challenges of transformation?<\/h3>\n

Stakeholders from business and research will provide answers to this question and insights into various transformation processes and solutions at the professional development event “Shaping Transformation – Together in Change(ing)”<\/a> on 28 February from 9 am at the NFF.<\/p>\n
