From January 15th to 19th, the Information Week on the Foundation University<\/a> at TU Braunschweig will take place. We interviewed President Angela Ittel and Vice President Dietmar Smyrek <\/a>about the purpose of the Information Week and how members of TU Braunschweig can contribute to shaping the decision-making process regarding the Foundation University.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Braunschweig Citizens’ Prize 2023 awarded<\/h3>\n

Seven students impress with their outstanding academic achievements and social commitment. On St. Nicholas Day, they traditionally received the \u201cBraunschweiger B\u00fcrgerpreis\u201d<\/a>, each endowed with 1,500 euros. In addition, three students in need were supported with a total of 4,000 euros.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Heinze ArchitekturAWARD for student house<\/h3>\n

The After winning the German Architecture Prize and the Lower Saxony BDA Prize, the Student House has now been awarded the Heinze ArchitekturAWARD<\/a> in the \u201cBest Cradle to Cradle\u201d category at the Climate Festival in Berlin.<\/p>\n

\u25ba NaNaBatt: Environmentally friendly rechargeable batteries<\/h3>\n

Three institutes are working with industrial partners to develop sustainable and cost-efficient production processes for sodium ion cells. Sodium ion technology<\/a> is intended to complement lithium ion technology in the future and meet the growing demand for energy storage in an economically and ecologically way.<\/p>\n

\u25ba \u201cSynthetic chemistry is such a creative subject\u201d<\/h3>\n

Christopher J. Teskey<\/a> has been a professor at the Institute of Organic Chemistry since 1 November. He will be working on the search for new methods to form organic molecules. He will also incorporate artificial intelligence into the research programme and strengthen links with industrial partners.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Standardised determination of greenhouse gas emissions<\/h3>\n

Many universities in Lower Saxony are working on researching and implementing climate protection measures. The \u201cCOUNTS\u201d pilot project<\/a> now aims to create uniform standards for the greenhouse gas balances of universities in Lower Saxony.<\/p>\n

\u25ba 20 years of Gender Center<\/h3>\n

Diversity researching and teaching \u2013 interdisciplinary and across universities. The three universities TU Braunschweig, Ostfalia and HBK have been working closely together in the field of gender studies<\/a> for 20 years. They are celebrating their anniversary with the \u201cGenderVisionen 23\u201d conference on 11 December.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New double degree Master\u2019s programme: Business Engineering in Urban Mobility<\/h3>\n

As part of the EIT Urban Mobility Master School, the Chair of Service Management together with the Carl-Friedrich-Gau\u00df-Fakult\u00e4t has launched a new double degree Master\u2019s programme<\/a>. Students will spend the first year at TU Braunschweig and the second year at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain.<\/p>\n

What is particularly important when it comes to supporting international students? The Computational Sciences in Engineering (CSE) degree program<\/a> relies on a strong welcoming culture, onboarding formats and networking.<\/p>\n

The Institute of Psychology is asking all students and employees to take part in a 20-minute online survey on the topic of \u201cBe Safe \u2013 Survey on Gender-Based Discrimination and Violence at TU Braunschweig\u201d. On 13 December, the Psychologists for the Future will be guests at the Community Caf\u00e9<\/a> organised by the Knowledge Transfer team. The guests will report on their community work in Braunschweig on feelings caused by the confrontation with climate change.<\/p>\n
