These were the questions addressed at a Parliamentary Evening<\/a> hosted by the City of Braunschweig, TU Braunschweig<\/a> and other research institutions on 30 November at the Representation of the State of Lower Saxony.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Panel Discussion Antisemitism – Hostility towards Science<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Anti-Semitism has been an explosive topic not only since recent events. The conspiracy narratives of the \u201cCorona protests\u201d also made it clear how widespread anti-Semitic beliefs are and how dangerous they can be for freedom – including the freedom of research. Prof. Melanie Brinkmann, Dr. Friederike Hendriks, Dr. Felix Klein and Dr. Dirk Sadowski will discuss this on 18 January<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba On the way to the (almost) perfect material cycle<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Scientists at the Institute of Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering are researching a new recycling process<\/a>. The aim of this process is to return PET to its original materials. This could close the material cycle almost completely and give plastic waste a new value as a raw material.<\/p>\n

… is being celebrated by the TU Braunschweig Language Center<\/a> this year. 50 years ago, a coordinated language course programme was offered at TU Braunschweig for the first time. Celebrations will take place with an anniversary event on 26 April, 2024<\/p>\n

In 2007, TU psychology graduate Carolin Ritter immigrated to New Zealand. Since the summer, she has been back at the Institute of Psychology on parental leave. In this interview<\/a>, she talks about her work in two countries and explains why there are sometimes more than 1,000 students on her courses in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>Dr. Juan Li<\/a>, Fraunhofer WKI, has been awarded for outstanding research achievements in the field of wood and fiber science and technology for her dissertation at the TU Research Training Group 2075. Congratulations!<\/p>\n

\u25ba \u201cForschungsdatenmanagement Niedersachsen\u201d launched<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MWK is providing 15.7 million euros to support the development of the initiative<\/a>, which contributes to the security, traceability and quality of academic work. Our Head of the University Library and spokesperson for the working group, Robert Str\u00f6tgen, is significantly involved.<\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/strong>Inaugural lectures from three faculties<\/strong><\/h3>\n

There will be six inaugural lectures next week: Prof. Andres Gomez and Prof. Vadim Issakov<\/a>, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Physics, will hold their inaugural lectures on 5 December, Prof. Elisabeth Endres<\/a>, Department Architecture, on 6 December and Prof. Markus Ludwig, Prof. Anne Paschke and Prof. Felix R\u00f6sel<\/a>, Department Business Science, on 7 December.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Online-event for teaching staff<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As part of the event series \u201cErfolgreich studieren\u201d, the online event<\/a> \u201cEarly warning system & other practical measures to support student success\u201d will take place on 12 December at 10:30 am. Two TU Dresden projects will be presented. To the registration.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/strong>Visiting students from Ecuador<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Supported by the DAAD, students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering <\/a>at the Escuela Polt\u00e9cnica Nacional in Quito visited TU Braunschweig. They got to know several research teams, laboratories and research areas of the institutes and gained an insight into research and studies.<\/p>\n

\u25ba <\/strong>Fulbright-Cottrell Award<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Young German scientists from the fields of chemistry, physics and astronomy with teaching activities at Bachelor’s and Master’s level can apply for the Fulbright-Cottrell Award<\/a> until 29 January 2024.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Two Schering Stiftung awards announced for 2024<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Ernst Schering Prize<\/a>, endowed with 50,000 euros, is aimed at scientists in the field of basic biomedical research. The Friedmund Neumann Prize<\/a> is endowed with 10,000 euros. It honors young scientists in the field of basic research in human biology, organic chemistry or human medicine.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Please note parking lot closures<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Parking lots in the TU area are regularly closed for maintenance or repair purposes. The closures are announced on notices in the parking lot and via the information portal<\/a>. To avoid being towed away, please keep these parking spaces free.<\/p>\n
