\u25ba Angela Ittel elected HRK Vice President<\/h3>\n
On 14 November, our President Angela Ittel was elected to the Executive Board of the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK). As HRK Vice President<\/a>, she will be taking charge of international affairs, equity and diversity.<\/div>\n

\u25ba Ceremony: 275 years of University Library<\/h3>\n

The University Library will conclude its 275th anniversary celebrations with a ceremony on 23 November<\/a>. The day will be a celebration of the library’s history and a look at its future. The event with President Angela Ittel, State Secretary Prof. Joachim Schachtner and Mayor Dr Thorsten Kornblum will take place in the reading rooms of the library. Everyone is invited to join in the celebrations.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Real-world use planned for TU research vehicle RAION<\/h3>\n

RAION is the latest member of a family of autonomous driving research demonstrators. As early as next year, RAION will be used as a shuttle service at the Braunschweig Research Airport. Professor Roman Henze<\/a> from the Institute of Automotive Engineering tells us more.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Autonomous driving: TU Braunschweig conducts research to accelerate market introduction<\/h3>\n

There are still some hurdles to overcome before autonomous driving can be widely used, including social acceptance and the political and legal framework. Dr Adrian Sonka<\/a>, managing director of the NFF, explains what these are and how TU Braunschweig is helping to shape them.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Mobility: NFF Doctorcal Prizes awarded<\/h3>\n

The NFF Doctoral Prizes<\/a> are awarded every two years to raise the profile of young researchers at the NFF. On 13 November, the first prize was awarded to Dr Marvin Klingner and the two second prizes to Dr Axel Sturm and Dr Christian Raulf. All three dissertations are dedicated to safer, more sustainable and multimodal mobility.<\/p>\n

\u25ba NFL awards research prize and two prizes for young scientists<\/h3>\n

New approaches to space debris disposal, automated design of wind turbines and a better understanding of permeation processes \u2013 three aerospace research projects are contributing to these issues. On 16 November, three researchers were honoured for their work at the NFL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba A warm welcome<\/h3>\n

\u2026 to Professor Magdalena Sut-Lohmann<\/a>! She is a new professor at the Institute of Geoecology, where she heads the Department of Soil Science. Professor Sut-Lohmann’s research focuses mainly on anthropogenically influenced soils, whose properties have been significantly altered by human activities.<\/p>\n

\u25ba And another warm welcome<\/h3>\n

… to Professor Sebastian Andres<\/a>! He is a new professor at the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics. His research focuses on random walk and other random processes in random environments. In this interview, the mathematician explains what fascinates him about probability theory, the mathematics of chance.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Welcome-meeting for parents with our President<\/h3>\n

On 15 December, President Professor Dr Angela Ittel invites you to the welcome-meeting<\/a>. All students and employes who have had \u201cTU offspring\u201d in the past year are invited. Please register<\/a> until 1 December via the TU Braunschweig Family Office.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Honours for decades of service<\/h3>\n

For the first time this year, TU Braunschweig held an official ceremony to honour staff members<\/a> celebrating 25 or 40 years of service and retirement. The ceremony took place on 14 November in the Architecture Pavilion and was hosted by Vice-President Dietmar Smyrek.<\/p>\n

\u25ba BFC Career Event in Belgium<\/h3>\n

Research Services will be present at the BFC Career Event<\/a> as part of\u00a0 \u201cResearch in German\u201d. The career fair for researchers in the life sciences will take place on 23 November in Gent, Belgium.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Long evening of academic advice<\/h3>\n

The Academic Advice Service invites students and staff to a \u201cLong evening of academic advice\u201d<\/a> on 22 November. In interactive lectures, counselling sessions and practical exercises for (self-)reflection, those interested can find out more about studying, TU Braunschweig and the Academic Advice Service. The event starts at 16:00 and takes place at Haus der Wissenschaft.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Creative thinking and acting for a successful career<\/h3>\n

The Entrepreneurship Hub together with the Career Service of TU Braunschweig and the Career Service of the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences invites all doctoral candidates, graduates and students to the interactive workshop \u201cKernkompetenz: Intrapreneurship\u201d<\/a>. The workshop will take place online on 12 December via BigBlueButton.<\/p>\n

\u25ba The DFG Review Board election enters the closing stages!<\/h3>\n

You can vote online in the DFG Review Board election<\/a> for the 2024-2028 term of office until 20 November at 14:00. Ten of our colleagues are up for election. The election of Review Board members is open to all scientists and researchers in Germany, giving you the opportunity to have a direct say in the matter and play an active role in the self-governance of science.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

Our darling of the week is Professor Anne Paschke, Head of the Institute of Law. She is once again one of the \u201cTop 40 under 40\u201d of the business magazine \u201cCapital\u201d<\/a>. They were looking for exceptional leaders with passion, we say: Congratulations Professor Paschke!<\/p>\n
