\u25baStatement by the Executive Board on the paint attack at the Audimax<\/h3>\n

During the information fair for new students on 23 October, the group \u201cLast Generation\u201d staged a protest<\/a>. Two activists from the group used fire extinguishers to spray paint the entrance to the Audimax. The Executive Board shares the concerns of young people, but speaks out against wanton damage to property.<\/p>\n

\u25ba With the Minister President in the experimental hall<\/h3>\n

On Monday, Minister President Stephan Weil<\/a> gained insights into two key areas of research during his visit to TU Braunschweig. He learnt about the research on digital building fabrication being pursued by the Collaborative Research Centre \u201cAdditive Manufacturing in Construction\u201d and the development of a new semiconductor technology at the Nitride Technology Center NTC.<\/p>\n

\u25ba For more fire safety: ZeBra opens<\/h3>\n

To ensure and research fire safety in sustainable construction methods and new products of the energy transition, the research building of the Centre for Fire Safety Research (ZeBra) was opened yesterday.<\/a> The infrastructure, which is unique in Europe, contributes to finding solutions for minimising the hazards of sustainable products.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Research on fire<\/h3>\n

How does a fire develop in a multi-storey building with a wooden fa\u00e7ade and\u00a0 how do insulating materials made from renewable raw materials affect fire-fighting? To find out, the Centre of Fire Safety Research (ZeBra) recently carried out the first large-scale fire test<\/a> on its four-storey fa\u00e7ade test stand. \u25ba How do you imagine a sustainable TU Braunschweig?<\/h3>\n

The Sustainability Council invites all TU members to participate in shaping our future by taking part in a survey<\/a>. The aim is to get an overview of interests and priorities on the topic of sustainability. The results will play an important role in the future sustainability strategy.<\/p>\n

\u25ba With airy acrobatics and lots of music into the semester<\/h3>\n

On Monday, 23 October, TU Braunschweig welcomed its 3,000 first-year students at the Eintracht Stadium. There was a colourful and international programme<\/a> with a vertical scarf show, a traditional Chinese dance, music and information. A picture gallery and a video show some impressions.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Autonomous truck sets course for the motorway<\/h3>\n

The ATLAS-L4 funding project<\/a> on autonomous trucks, in which TU Braunschweig is involved, has reached important milestones. A sensor vehicle is already collecting data on the motorway, and the first automated test drives on the motorway are due to take place this year.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Bridge between TU and society<\/h3>\n

The new University Council<\/a> convened for its constituent meeting on Wednesday. The central advisory and supervisory body, consisting of seven members from science, business and culture, elected Prof. Lothar Hageb\u00f6lling as chair and Dr. Gabriele Heinen-Kljaji\u0107 as deputy chair.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Virtual Matching Event with the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology<\/h3>\n

As part of a joint seed funding programme<\/a>, TU Braunschweig and Taiwan Tech invite all interested parties to a virtual matching event<\/a> on 10 November at 9:00. Present your research area in a 5-minute pitch and find suitable cooperation partners.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Interdisciplinary workshop brings researchers together<\/h3>\n

As part of the ongoing seedfunding programme \u201cInterdisciplinary Collaboration\u201d<\/a>, TU scientists have already met for an interdisciplinary workshop<\/a> on the project \u201cAdaptive mesh criteria for highly nonlinear partially saturated concrete\u201d in order to exchange ideas on their specialist topics.<\/p>\n

\u25ba 25th anniversary at the Chair of Production and Logistics<\/h3>\n

On 24 October, the Chair of Production and Logistics at the Institute of Automotive Economics celebrated its 25th anniversary<\/a>. Prof. Thomas Spengler, established it and developed it into an internationally recognised address for interdisciplinary research in the field of sustainable production and logistics.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Call for the DFG Review Board Election<\/h3>\n

The election of the DFG Review Boards for the term 2024-2028 is in full swing. Ten of our colleagues are also standing for election. All scientists nationwide can participate in the election of review board members. The election portal<\/a> is open until 20 November.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Study successfully: What can lecturers do to support students in this?<\/h3>\n

To coincide with the start of the semester, two events<\/a> will take place in November on the topic of study entry: The interactive lecture \u201cDropout: Extent, Causes and the Role of Teachers in Study Success\u201d and the Barcamp \u201cPreventing Dropouts \u2013 Teachers, Students and Advisors in Dialogue\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Future Day at TU Braunschweig \u2013 here’s what’s new!<\/h3>\n

The nationwide action day for stereotype-free career orientation will take place on 25 April 2024. From November onwards, you as an institution or institute can enter your offer for the Future Day at TU Braunschweig<\/a> in the Girls’Day Radar<\/a> or Boys’Day Radar<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba University competition 2024<\/h3>\n

In the university competition for the Science Year 2024<\/a> (German only), Wissenschaft im Dialog invites young researchers from all disciplines to submit their creative and interactive communication ideas around the theme of freedom.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

Our darling of the week is Professor Ulrike Pilarczyk!<\/a> The Historian of Education was honoured with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her merits in the general field of educational science and her dedicated social commitment. The award was presented to her on 23 October by Berlin’s Senator for Science, Dr. Ina Czyborra. Our most sincere congratulations to her!<\/p>\n
