\u25ba How will you live in the Future City?<\/h3>\n

With the public conference #SdZ23<\/a>, the Core Research Area \u201cFuture City\u201d invites you to research and action on 11 and 12 October. In addition to scientific discourse, there will be a diverse programme \u2013 with exhibitions, lectures, a stage programme, local and sustainable food and live music.<\/p>\n

\u25ba FEMTEC: Information session and reception by the President<\/h3>\n

The Femtec Career Development Programme offers female STEM Master students a comprehensive scholarship for personal career development. There will be an information session<\/a> on 18 October at 17:00, followed by a reception hosted by President Angela Ittel. We would be grateful if you could share the information about this event with your female students.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Survey participants wanted!<\/h3>\n

How would you rate your own awareness of information security at TU Braunschweig<\/a>? As part of a project for the Master of Organisation, Governance and Education, a group of students is investigating this question on behalf of the CISO. Take ten minutes of your time and take part in the survey.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Call for Application: 15 DAAD funding programmes launched<\/h3>\n

DAAD announces 15 funding programmes, including three new programmes, and encourages universities to apply for them. Further information about this and the application requirements can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba A\u201etransformative\u201c late morning<\/h3>\n

The iTUBS is organising the \u201cTransformittag 2023\u201d<\/a> on 17 October from 9:00 to 12:00 at the Haus der Wissenschaft. The event is open to all TU Braunschweig employees and offers exciting insights into the world of knowledge and technology transfer \u2013 from iTUBS to the Transfer and Cooperation House (TuK), the TransferHub and science start-ups.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Health campaign: Rehabilitation for post-COVID<\/h3>\n

There are still many people who suffer from limitations after their COVID. On 10 October from 11:00 to 12:00<\/a>, Prof. J\u00f6rg Heimsoth will explain the background to long and post-COVID syndrome, outline the state of scientific research and present therapy and treatment options.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New offer for teachers<\/h3>\n

Starting on 23 October, the new English-language online course for teachers called \u201cTeaching and Learning for Global Competence\u201d<\/a> will be available. The course provides strategies and tools for meeting the challenges of an international classroom and teaching in English. The module can be taken independently or in a blended learning format with a certificate of attendance.<\/p>\n

\u25ba DFG announces Communicator Award 2024<\/h3>\n

The DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) is once again awarding the \u201cCommunicator Prize – Science Prize of the Donors’ Association\u201d<\/a> for outstanding achievements in science communication. The prize is endowed with 50,000 euros. Applications and proposals can be submitted up to and including 2 January 2024.<\/p>\n

Professors of the Faculty of Life Sciences will give their inaugural lectures on 10 October<\/a>: Prof. Thekla Cordes about \u201eMetabolism in space and time: How small molecules influence health and disease\u201c and Prof. Boas Pucker about \u201eBig data-driven discoveries in the specialized plant metabolism\u201c and on 11 October<\/a>: Prof. Yvonne Mast about \u201eBioressourcen f\u00fcr die Wirkstoffforschung: Das Biosynthesepotential der Actinomyceten\u201c and Prof. Laura Steenpass about \u201eMenschliche und Tierische Zellkulturen \u2013 Modelle f\u00fcr Erkrankungen des Menschen\u201c.<\/p>\n

\u2026 Xenia Steinbach<\/a>, Lecturer in the History of Science and Technology at the Department of History. She received two awards for her outstanding dissertation last month.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New sport courses for the winter term<\/h3>\n

The University Sports Centre is once again offering a range of sports courses<\/a> for the winter term. Registration is possible starting on 9 October at 9:00.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Picture of the month: Miniscule copper chestnut animals<\/h3>\n

Our picture of the month may remind you of autumnal tinkering, but it is a relevant technology for component integration for the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Frontiers and the Quantum Valley Niedersachsen. Maximilian Vergin from the Institute of Semiconductor Technology made microscopic metal nanowires with jewel-like tips and happened to get an autumnal picture<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

We officially entered the winter semester 2023\/24 on 1 October, time flies. We are looking forward to a golden October, many new first-year students, the return of our students \u2013 welcome back \u2013 and a great time together at the University and on campus.<\/p>\n
