\u25ba Together for more diversity on 26 June<\/h3>\n

Save the date: Next Monday, our university invites all TU members and interested parties to the second Diversity Day<\/a>. We are looking forward to setting an example for diversity, anti-discrimination and equality again this year. There will be a varied programme of workshops, keynote speeches, music and information stands in cooperation with regional initiatives and experts from anti-discrimination work.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Architectural lightness for optimal learning conditions<\/h3>\n

With the central student house<\/a>, living and learning on campus has become even more attractive. With student activities and over 100 guests, the house has now been officially opened and the students symbolically handed over the key.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Conference \u201cThe Future of Internationalisation\u201d in Berlin<\/h3>\n

On 22 and 23 June, TU9, the alliance of leading technical universities in Germany, is hosting the conference \u201cThe Future of Internationalisation \u2013 Strengthening Excellence, Shaping Strategy\u201d<\/a>. The background is the further development of the \u201cStrategy of the Federal and State Ministers of Science for the Internationalisation of Universities\u201d. The event will also serve to formulate joint positions and needs of universities with strong research capabilities.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Scientific Model Project \u201cRaump\u00e4dagogik\u201d<\/h3>\n

How do school rooms have to be designed so that they can become learning spaces? In a model project<\/a>, the Institute of Educational Science and the Institute of Design and Architectural Strategies are cooperating with the City of Braunschweig and the IGS Querum. Our President Angela Ittel and Lord Mayor Dr Thorsten Kornblum signed a cooperation agreement to this effect.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Mail from the ice<\/h3>\n

Two scientists from TU Braunschweig were also on board the Swedish Arctic expedition \u201cARTofMELT\u201d. Their emails give us an insight<\/a> into their work and everyday life during their research trip.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Congratulations<\/h3>\n

… to Prof. J\u00f6rn Piel. The chemist received the Inhoffen Medal<\/a> from the Friends of the Helmholtz Institute for Infection Research (HZI) and TU Braunschweig for his scientific work on natural substances from marine sources. The prize, worth 5,000 euros, has been awarded annually since 1994 in memory of the chemist Hans Inhoffen.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Protecting the climate with beats, awards and a clock<\/h3>\n

For three days, the TU campus was all about sustainability: from 13 to 15 June, the TUmorrow Days took place last week. We have summarised the highlights of the sustainability action days in a picture gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba New campus software licences available<\/h3>\n

In the project \u201cLicences in the field of digital teaching in Lower Saxony\u201d, three new Lower Saxony-wide software tools could be licensed. Actionbound<\/a>, Particify<\/a> and the bundle Meistertask\/Mindmeister<\/a> are now also available at TU Braunschweig.<\/p>\n

\u25ba 2nd Cybersecurity Meetup Braunschweig<\/h3>\n

On 13 June, the Institute for Application Security and the Institute for Operating Systems and Computer Networks hosted the 2nd Cybersecurity Meetup<\/a> in Braunschweig. Topics included user input sanitisation functions, hardware trust anchor use cases and cybersecurity challenges for the automotive sector.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Cultural Heritage Construction<\/h3>\n

Impressions and findings from the DFG Priority Programme \u201cCultural Heritage Construction\u201d<\/a> will be on display in the architecture pavilion from 27 June to 7 July. The exhibition presents the fields of work of the eleven sub-projects of the SPP, which meet at our university for the annual meeting.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Scholars at Risk \u2013 New application platform for at-risk scholars<\/h3>\n

TU Braunschweig has been a member of \u201cScholars at Risk\u201d<\/a> for several years. Individuals seeking assistance from the Scholars-at-Risk organisation can apply any time for temporary research or teaching stays (6 months to 2 years) at one of the member universities. For members already in touch with individuals they wish to host, and seeking to nominate these candidates for SAR review, a corresponding feature is included on the eligibility form<\/a>. Please contact Dr. Astrid Sebastian<\/a> from the Mobile Researchers\u2019 Service for further information.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

Starting Monday, many international students from all over the world<\/a> are taking part in TU Braunschweig Summer School<\/a>, offered by the International House. Over the next five weeks, they will learn a lot about the German language and culture. But there\u2019s more on the agenda than just German classes: there is also an exciting excursion and social programme to look forward to \u2013 including visiting Berlin. We wish all participants a great time at TU Braunschweig!<\/p>\n
