… to our Vice-President for Human Resources, Infrastructure, Dietmar Smyrek<\/a>! The Senate confirmed him in office early on Wednesday with a clear vote for another eight years. A prolonged round of applause followed the announcement of the result.<\/p>\n

\u25ba The clock is counting down<\/h3>\n

You can’t miss it: the ClimateCrisisClock<\/a> on the Forumsgeb\u00e4ude. As part of the TUmorrow Days, the climate clock was started by our President Angela Ittel and all those involved. The clock shows the time left to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. It was built by students of architecture and the student engineering office StudING.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Save the Date: Second Diversity Day on 26 June!<\/h3>\n

Diversity means more than raising the rainbow flag: On 26 June, all TU members and interested parties are invited to the second Diversity Day<\/a> as a sign of diversity, anti-discrimination and equality. In cooperation with regional initiatives and experts, there will be a varied programme with music and information stands.<\/p>\n

\u25ba QuantumFrontiers Science Slam<\/h3>\n

On 30 June, seven scientists from our Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers will dare to take to the stage of the Haus der Wissenschaft to present their research to a broad audience in a Science Slam<\/a>. We are looking forward to listening, learning and laughing.<\/p>\n

\u25ba A preview of university studies<\/h3>\n

… is what the Sneak Peek TU<\/a> on 22 June provides for prospective students. Together, many scientists, employees and students have organised a colourful programme to show the University from the students’ perspective. Many thanks and good luck!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Space: BepiColombo flies past Mercury again<\/h3>\n

After an Earth flyby, two Venus flybys and two Mercury flybys, BepiColombo is scheduled for another trial visit to its target planet. On 19 June<\/a>, the satellite will fly past Mercury again, the closest planet to the sun in our solar system. On board: measurement technology from TU Braunschweig.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Groundbreaking ceremony for Fraunhofer ZESS<\/h3>\n

… for energy storage and hydrogen technologies<\/a> at the research airport, which marks an important milestone in the further expansion of the battery research cluster in the region.\u00a0 TU Braunschweig is represented as a cooperation partner with the Battery LabFactory and the NFF.<\/p>\n

\u25ba A warm welcome<\/h3>\n

\u2026 to Prof. Frederik M\u00f6ller<\/a>! He is new junior professor for Business Information Systems with a focus on Data-Driven Enterprise. Dealing with data is the focus of his research. He is particularly interested in how incentives can be created for data exchange between companies.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Delegation from Rhode Island<\/h3>\n

The focus of the visit of a delegation from the University of Rhode Island<\/a> was on the exchange about the joint double degree programme IEP (International Engineering Programme) as well as the signing of a Letter of Intent as the basis for the strategic partnership between the two universities.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Athletic visit from Brazil<\/h3>\n

Prof. Marli Hatje<\/a> from the Federal University of Santa Maria in Brazil came to the Institute of Sport Science and Physcial Education to find out about the curriculum in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes for sports teacher training. Of course, some sport was not missing out either.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Award-winning family-friendliness<\/h3>\n

This week, for the sixth time, our university received the certificate \u201caudit familiengerechte Hochschule\u201d (family-friendly university audit)<\/a>, which was presented by the Federal Minister for Family Affairs.<\/p>\n

\u25ba “Programming is not something to be afraid of”<\/h3>\n

Hardly any product in the physical world can do without software. And it is no longer possible to imagine everyday engineering without it. In the course \u201cApplication-oriented programming for engineers\u201d, mechanical engineering students can realise their own ideas, such as an automated chicken coop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Congratulations<\/h3>\n

… to the winners of the TUmorrow Awards 2023<\/a>. In the categories \u201cStudent Commitment\u201d, \u201cOutstanding Thesis\u201d and \u201cOutstanding Course\u201d, special commitment to the topic of sustainability was honoured.<\/p>\n

\u25ba A sharp look at chemistry<\/h3>\n

Four microscopes and two cameras have long been on the Agnes Pockels laboratory’s<\/a> wish list to expand the students’ research possibilities. A donation from the Ecki Wohlgehagen Foundation has now made the purchase possible.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Comeback for the Campuslauf<\/h3>\n

The team of the University Sports Centre was pleased to see many new and familiar faces at the Campuslauf<\/a> on 11 June. Around 400 participants took part in the 5-kilometre fun run and 10-kilometre main run. The event was opened by our President Angela Ittel.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Who is afraid of AI?<\/h3>\n

The series of events \u201cAI – Transformation in Higher Education\u201d has been running since the beginning of the summer semester. In a blog entry<\/a>, Dr Sophie Domann, Project House at TU Braunschweig, now describes her impressions of the series of events.<\/p>\n

\u25ba MS Wissenschaft comes to Braunschweig<\/h3>\n

This year’s tour of the MS Wissenschaft<\/a> explores the infinite vastness of space. Equipped, among other things, with two core themes of the Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers, the floating exhibition will anchor in the port of Braunschweig-Veltenhof from 23 to 26 June.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Further training in higher education teaching<\/h3>\n

The programme \u201cWeiterbildung in der Hochschullehre\u201d (WindH) 2023\/24<\/a> of the Kompetenzzentrum Hochschuldidaktik f\u00fcr Niedersachsen (KHN) is now published online. Registrations are now possible.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Humboldt Discoveries<\/h3>\n

The Humboldt Foundation offers the opportunity to nominate top international researchers for a Bessel Research Award. Anyone who would like to find out more about the research award programmes and the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship Programme is cordially invited to the online information even<\/a>t on 21 June.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

Wild? Valuable! Our darling of the week is a retret for an amazing diversity of plants and insects in urban spaces. For example, the biotope in the courtyard of the Biozentrum<\/a> is home to 26 different species of bees. A service learning project has now designed a sign to draw attention to this biodiversity.<\/p>\n
