\u25ba State promotes University Development with 900,000 Euros<\/h3>\n

Last year, TU Braunschweig launched the University Development\u00a0 initiative 2030 to launch a strategy for holistic development on the path to excellence. The MWK is funding the associated measures for five stage goals<\/a> with the highest possible funding amount.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Space: Live event for the launch of the JUICE mission<\/h3>\n

The launch of the JUICE mission to explore the planet Jupiter and its moons is planned for 13 April. TU Braunschweig is involved with a magnetic field measuring device and a camera data processing unit. TU Braunschweig will accompany the launch with a supporting programme<\/a> from 12 noon in the Haus der Wissenschaft.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Second phase of the “Leistung macht Schule” initiative starts<\/h3>\n

With \u201eLemaS-Transfer in die Schullandschaft\u201c<\/a>, researchers from 17 universities accompany the transfer processes in up to 1,300 schools. They are working on the redesign of schools and teaching. TU Braunschweig is again part of the research network, which the BMBF is funding with 35 million euros.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Insulation without side effects<\/h3>\n

The inert fluorine gas SF6 is widely used in electrical circuits. The problem: the gas is considered a climate killer. In an industrial project, TU Braunschweig is researching fluorine gas-free circuit breakers <\/a>for the high-voltage range.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Humboldt Fellow at the Institute of Structural Analysis<\/h3>\n

Prof. Roland W\u00fcchner is happy to welcome an international guest at the Institute of Structural Analysis: Prof. Artem Korobenko<\/a> from the University of Calgary, funded by a Humboldt Fellowship, is researching the development of a multi-fidelity tool for the design and analysis of wind turbines in complex terrain with hills and mountains.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Sea Future<\/h3>\n

Conflicts between protection and use of the North Sea as well as the effects of climate change on coastal protection were the focus of the Parliamentary Evening of the German Marine Research Alliance (DAM)<\/a>, which also includes the Coastal Research Centre of TU Braunschweig and Leibniz Universit\u00e4t Hannover.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Impacts from ship on the coastal zone<\/h3>\n

Travelling ships generate waves and currents that can lead to heavy loads on the waterway and its banks. Experts from all over the world now discussed the challenges at a workshop<\/a> organised by the Leichtwei\u00df Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources and the Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Picture of the month: Crystals getting smaller<\/h3>\n

The orange crystals are still easy to see. But scientists from the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Frontiers want to change that. Our new picture of the month<\/a> reveals why the crystals are to be shrunk to the size of molecules.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Inaugural lectures<\/h3>\n

Prof. Dr. Jessica Agarwal \u201cAktivit\u00e4t kleiner K\u00f6rper im Sonnensystem\u201d, and Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Plaschke \u201cVom Sonnenwind zum Weltraumwetter: Dynamische Prozesse im erdnahen Weltraum\u201d, Institute of Geophysics and Extraterrestrial Physics, will hold their inaugural lectures on 12 April<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Project Presentation of the iGEM Team 2023<\/h3>\n

On 26\u00a0 April at 5:30 PM, Braunschweig iGEM team<\/a> will show how the use of a riboswitch could potentially make life easier for those affected by bipolar disorder. Guests are welcome in seminar room 045 at the BRICS.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Yearbook Agricultural Engineering published<\/h3>\n

The 34th edition of the Yearbook is available for download free of charge at www.jahrbuch-agrartechnik.de<\/a>. Prof. Ludger Frerichs, head of the Institute for Mobile Machines and Commercial Vehicles, summarises the latest developments in agricultural technology.<\/p>\n

\u25ba TU Braunschweig meets Ivy League<\/h3>\n

On 18 April, Research Services will attend the “Ivy+ Just in Time Virtual Career Fair”<\/a> and provide information to graduates from Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT & others about current career opportunities at TU Braunschweig.<\/p>\n

With the start of the new summer semester, we once again warmly welcome many new students.
