\u25ba University Library: Extension of opening hours<\/h3>\n

Since 1 March, the University Library is available again as a place of quiet study in the late evening hours and on weekends. To increase the supply of quiet learning spaces, the heating hours of the newer part of the library are being extended. All information on the new opening hours are available on the UB website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Aviation: New test rig for new engine concepts<\/h3>\n

The desire for more efficient flying calls for engines with a special feature: In so-called ultra-high bypass ratio engines (UHBR), the bypass flow generates the main thrust. A new test setup<\/a> has been put into operation at the Institute of Flight Propulsion and Turbomachinery to investigate this technology.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Building for the ZeBra<\/h3>\n

Spectacular large-scale equipment is hidden in the research building of the Centre for Fire Research<\/a> (ZeBra) at Campus East. The building management has now handed over the key to the Institute for Building Materials, Solid Construction and Fire Protection.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Battery research: New storage devices for electric aviation and aerospace<\/h3>\n

Lithium-sulfur batteries can store about twice as much energy as lithium-ion batteries for the same weight. To make the system usable for mobility, TU Braunschweig is researching optimized sulfur-based energy storage systems<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Countdown for climate<\/h3>\n

A ClimateCrisisClock<\/a> will soon be installed on the University Square to show the time left to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. The climate clock is being built by architecture students and the student engineering office StudING.<\/p>\n

\u25ba What it takes to start a business<\/h3>\n

For one week, students at the Entrepreneurship Spring School<\/a> worked on creative business ideas. Seven teams presented their business models, and the best were awarded prizes, including a concept for vending machines with healthy quark dishes and a water turbine that generates energy from rainwater.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Peer coaching for female doctoral candidates<\/h3>\n

The new offer in the FEMnet programme of the Equal Opportunities Office provides collegiality and support with the challenges during the doctoral phase as well as advice and opportunities for reflection on issues of self-management, self-presentation and career orientation. Registration for the peer coaching<\/a> is possible until 3 April 2023.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Picture of the month: Chips for research into better drug absorption<\/h3>\n

How does a drug get to where it needs to be in the body? If we know exactly how this works, drugs can become more efficient. To achieve this, the Institute of Microtechnology is building chips that can be used to experimentally study drug absorption<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba BMBF Young Investigators Competition NanoMatFutur<\/h3>\n

This call for proposals<\/a> supports junior research groups in the field of materials science. The application procedure has two stages. Deadlines for pre-proposals are 15 September 2023 and 15 September 2024.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Brains on Chips \u2013 interdisciplinary investigation of nerve cells<\/h3>\n

The research programme Engineering For Health invites you to join: From 24 to 26 May, researchers from natural sciences and engineering will be discussing disease processes in the brain and new approaches to visualising, measuring and treating them. The international symposium<\/a> is financed by third-party funds, so participation<\/a> is free.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Understanding and Supporting First Generation Students<\/h3>\n

This is the motto of a workshop organised by the Diversity Office on 20 March from 9:00 to 13:00 as a follow-up to the Focus Year 2022 \u201cFirst Generation Students\u201d. Teachers and advisors will have the opportunity to learn about the results and to jointly develop ideas on how the study conditions of first-generation students can be (further) improved. \u25ba Feminist reading caf\u00e9 to celebrate International Women’s Day<\/h3>\n

The Knowledge Transfer team invites you to the Community Caf\u00e9 at the Sandkasten-Centre<\/a> on 8 March between 13:00 and 15:00. Exchange ideas about current feminist literature and learn about intersectional perspectives. Each week a different topic will be the focus of the Community Caf\u00e9, come by and join the conversation.<\/p>\n

On 11 March, the City of Braunschweig will be organising a city cleaning day. The AStA would like to support this initiative and calls on all staff and students to clean the area around the campus from rubbish on that day. The meeting point is at 11:00 on University Square.
