\u25ba Focus 2023: queer@TU<\/h3>\n

The new focus year 2023 has the motto queer@TU<\/a>. The joint project of President Angela Ittel and the Diversity Coordination Office of the Equal Opportunities Unit aims to make diversity at our university more visible and generate more equal opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Understanding playmate instead of absent breadwinner<\/h3>\n

Fathers today want to be empathetic and understanding. The image of the father who feeds the family with his income and only plays with the children at weekends is outdated. This is one of the results of the study “You don’t need to be Superheroes”<\/a> by TU Braunschweig and Kiel University of Applied Sciences.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Green hydrogen for climate-friendlier aviation<\/h3>\n

Will hydrogen be the solution to climate neutrality in the aviation industry? As promising this may be, the challenges in implementing hydrogen-powered aviation are also great. Over the next three years, the joint project HyNEAT<\/a> will conduct research into supply networks for such aircraft.<\/p>\n

\u25ba How the e-cargo bike stays fit longer<\/h3>\n

Electric cargo bike instead of delivery truck, quiet and emission-free \u2013 sounds promising. But how long will the battery last? And what happens when the battery reaches the end of its life? A research team from TU Braunschweig and TU Clausthal has found initial answers in the joint project “Life Cycling\u00b2”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Visionary, inspirer und human being<\/h3>\n

Prof. Klaus Pierick, Head of the then Institute of Transport, Railway Engineering and Traffic Safety from 1970 to 1996 and Rector and Pro-Rector of our university from 1972 to 1978, died in January at the age of 94. Dr.-Ing. Gunnar Bosse from the Institute of Railway Systems Engineering and Traffic Safety pays tribute to his work in an obituary<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Urban planning strategies for a \u201clow carbon community\u201d<\/h3>\n

… were designed by students in the \u201cInternational Urban Design Competition Studio\u201d (IUDeCS) for Beiguan in Shanghai or Westkreuz in Berlin. It was organised by the Institute for Sustainable Urbanism and the Department of Landscape Studies, CAUP College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University. The public jury meeting<\/a> will take place on 15 February via Webex.<\/p>\n

\u25ba 99 Deutschlandstipendien<\/h3>\n

\u25ba Quantum know-how for industries and decision-makers<\/h3>\n

To meet the large demand for skilled workers for the emerging quantum technologies, the EU is setting up a Europe-wide network for quantum training<\/a>. Together with its partners in Quantum Valley Lower Saxony, the Institute of the Didactics of Natural Sciences is heavily involved in setting up the network and its courses.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Campus Hour and Digital Town Hall<\/h3>\n

In the coming week, two of the new dialogue formats with President Angela Ittel will take place: At the Campus Hour<\/a> on 14 February, you will have the opportunity to talk to the President in a relaxed atmosphere in the 9bar. On 16 February, the Digital Town Hall<\/a> will focus on the topic of system accreditation.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Survey on the internationalisation of teaching<\/h3>\n

As part of the Re-Audit\u00b2<\/a> on the internationalisation of the university, the status quo of English-language teaching and international teaching cooperation at TU Braunschweig is to be surveyed. An online survey<\/a> of lecturers serves as the basis for this. Lecturers at TU Braunschweig are invited to participate until 15 February.<\/p>\n

\u25ba What is the status of labour unions among students?<\/h3>\n

This is what the three students Louisa Hering, Maria Benker and Jule Gehrt researched. On 16 February, they will present their results with a subsequent discussion in the Haus der Wissenschaft. Those interested can register online for the event<\/a> until 14 February.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Exchange with Mental Health First Aiders<\/h3>\n

The Corporate Health Management is currently working on an implementation concept for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) at TU Braunschweig and is looking for an exchange with MHFA first aiders. If you are already a first aider or are currently being trained as one, please contact the Corporate Health Management by email<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Workshop on applying for Postdoctoral Fellowships<\/h3>\n

On March 08 Research Services offer an information workshop on applying for Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA)<\/a>. The workshop is especially aimed at university teachers who would like to invite international candidates to TU Braunschweig. Registration by mail<\/a> is requested.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Recommendations for addressing international scientists<\/h3>\n

Under the concept “Researchers Recruit Researchers”<\/a>, Research Services has compiled recommendations and material for approaching international (early career) researchers.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Darling of the week<\/h3>\n

Our darlings of the week are 13 architecture students whose creative designs<\/a> for a temporary pavilion in Braunschweig’s city centre were selected by a jury. Together with experienced architects, they will now continue planning their design until it is ready for implementation.
