\u2026 were collected by Dr. Marta P\u00e9rez Rodr\u00edguez<\/a> from the Institute of Geoecology during the \u201cIsland Impact\u201d expedition in the South Atlantic for her research on the mercury cycle. Seven weeks she was on board the \u201cPolarstern\u201d. After her return, she reported on the stormy research journey.<\/p>\n In the research project \u201cResource-Optimised Cultural Heritage Buildings (Memory Institutions) \u2013 ReKult\u201d<\/a>, new assessment and planning approaches for the sustainable maintenance and construction of cultural heritage buildings are being developed. Also involved is Prof. Elisabeth Endres from the Institute for Building Climatology and Energy of Architecture.<\/p>\n In the Erasmus project \u201cIDEALCAREL\u201d<\/a>, the Institute of Railway Systems Engineering and Traffic Safety has now organised a first joint digital laboratory exercise together with the universities of Zagreb, \u017dilina and \u010cVUT Prague.<\/p>\n Currently, some people suffering from depression cannot be helped with standard therapies. Therefore, a national project is investigating how treatment can be tailored more closely to individual patients<\/a>.<\/p>\n One challenge in the operation of wind turbines is icing \u2013 with consequences for electricity production and operational safety. In the Braunschweig ice wind tunnel<\/a>, scientists are investigating how ice build-up can be avoided or how de-icing can be simplified.<\/p>\n As a junior professor at the Institute of Condensed Matter Physics, Nabeel Aslam<\/a> researches diamond quantum sensors. In the TU Magazine he tells us what the sensors are all about and what inspired him to become a scientist.<\/p>\n No less than ten projects were successful in the \u201cInnovation Plus\u201d funding programme<\/a>. They are funded by the MWK with a total of over 450,000 euros and are intended to support students in the learning process.<\/p>\n Together with the State Museum and the Jewish community, the University Library made 25 publications from the museum’s Judaica collection<\/a> freely available worldwide via the TU publication server.<\/p>\n To cushion the financial burden of the energy crisis, the Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen<\/a> will receive eleven million euros from the state. In addition to the \u201cLower Saxony Menu\u201d for 2.50 euros, there is further support to reduce the burden on students.<\/p>\n On 27 April, in the course of the nationwide Girls’ and Boys’ Day, the Future Day for girls and boys<\/a> will take place again at TU Braunschweig. You can register your event online<\/a> until 06 February and help to attract pupils to study and open up new perspectives for them, far away from gender stereotypes.<\/p>\n On 20 January, the campus flea market<\/a> will take place in the Grotrian building. Visitors can look forward to flea market treasures as well as culinary catering in the form of waffles and coffee. The Carolo Campus Caf\u00e9 will be open longer for the occasion.<\/p>\n What exactly does sustainability mean? That’s what the Children’s University 2022\/23 <\/a>is trying to find out. Short videos will focus on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
