\u25ba Braunschweig Citzens\u2018 Prize<\/h3>\n

For five students, outstanding academic achievements and social commitment pay off. On St. Nicholas’ Day, 6 December, they traditionally received the \u201cBraunschweiger B\u00fcrgerpreis<\/a>\u201d, which is endowed with 1.500 Euros each. A total of 7.500 Euros was distributed to the prize winners. Two students in need were supported with a further 2.000 Euros.<\/p>\n

\u25ba International science talents wanted<\/h3>\n

Prof. Nils Goseberg<\/a> has been selected as one of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s new Henriette Herz Scouts. This means he can now nominate three international academic talents from the fields of coastal engineering and ocean engineering for a Humboldt Research Fellowship.<\/p>\n

\u25ba What do researchers gain from science communication?<\/h3>\n

In a study<\/a> now published in \u201cScience Communication\u201d, Dr. Friederike Hendriks and Prof. Reiner Bromme from the University of M\u00fcnster show that public communication can have positive retroactive effects for interdisciplinary scientific collaboration. Hendriks is currently working with her junior research group “fourC” on communication training for young researchers.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Further successful measurements above the Nord Stream leaks<\/h3>\n

Initial measurements had shown that methane concentrations were not only elevated directly above the leaks in the Nord Stream pipelines. The Institute of Flight Guidance, together with DLR, again carried out measurements with the HELiPOD helicopter towed probe<\/a> over the Baltic Sea.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Students on a voyage of discovery in Mexico<\/h3>\n

Against the backdrop of the jungle, seven students had the opportunity to investigate jungle lakes ecologically and geophysically. A report<\/a> about measuring days, Mayan cult sites and great hospitality.<\/p>\n

\u25ba An architect of the \u201cBraunschweig School\u201d<\/h3>\n

Prof. Meinhard von Gerkan, until 2002 Professor of Building Design, died on 03 November at the age of 87. Prof. Berthold Heinrich Penkhues, spokesperson of the Department of Architecture, pays tribute to the architect’s work in an obituary<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba An open house for homeless persons<\/h3>\n

… in the middle of Braunschweig was designed by Malin Meyer<\/a> in her Master’s thesis. The architecture graduate has now been awarded the Laves Prize for her work, which was developed at the Institute of Building Design under Prof. Dan Sch\u00fcrch. Congratulations!<\/p>\n

\u25ba Mobile parent-child rooms<\/h3>\n

The Institute of Energy and Process Systems Engineering has purchased two mobile parent-child rooms with the support of the Equal Opportunities Office. The “KidsBoxes” with painting utensils, travel cot can be rolled into the workplace in family emergencies and contribute to a better work-life balance. If required, the boxes can be borrowed by mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Oceanic Writing – A Dialogue in the Fourth Dimension<\/h3>\n

As part of the #4GenderStudies action week,, Dr. Carolin Bohn, Prof. Regina Toepfer, Prof. Bettina Wahrig and Poetikdozentur award winner Thomas Meinecke will discuss topics around gender, queer and (anti-) feminism on 15 December. The event<\/a> will be livestreamed on YouTube.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Booking start of the new programme of the Graduate Academy Grad<\/b>TUBS<\/b><\/h3>\n

The new course programme<\/a> of the GradTUBS Graduate Academy for the first half of 2023 is now available. Booking for the new courses via Stud.IP.\u00a0 starts on Thursday, 15 December.<\/p>\n

On 15 December, the scent of mulled wine, biscuits and punch wafts over the University Square. In a cosy atmosphere, students and employees of the TU can come together at the charity Christmas market<\/a> and enjoy the Christmas spirit from 4 pm.
