\u25ba A sign to end violence against women<\/h3>\n

… is set today at 13.30 on the University Square. As part of the KNOW MORE campaign<\/a>, a red bench will be set up to draw attention to gender-specific violence. After short speeches by our president Angela Ittel and representatives of the AStA and activists of migrantifa, the bench will be inscribed with the word \u201cNo\u201d in different languages. Everyone is invited to take part in the action.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Saving energy in everyday university life: new poster series<\/h3>\n

Raise the blinds, let the sun in! Ventilate properly with intermittent ventilation and switch off standby mode \u2013 these and other energy-saving tips are included in the bilingual poster series <\/a>for printing.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Resource Cultural Heritage<\/h3>\n

Together with the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, the Institute for Building Climatics and Energy in Architecture is drawing attention to the transfer potential of heritage conservation for climate-friendly building preservation. On the occasion of the exhibition starting on 28 November, Professor Elisabeth Endres<\/a> reports on what we can learn from cultural heritage for building in the future.<\/p>\n

\u25ba MasterClass on quantum computers started<\/h3>\n

Students from Braunschweig’s Wilhelm-Gynmasium took part in the first lesson on quantum computing<\/a>. With the new format of the Cluster of Excellence QuantumFrontiers, they learn how to programme a cloud-based quantum computer.<\/p>\n

\u25ba A warm welcome<\/h3>\n

We welcome Professor Ter\u00f6rde! He heads the new Chair for Mobile Electric Energy Systems at the Institute for Electromagnetic Compatibility. His goal is to use his research to advance the energy transition through the electrification of vehicles. He is focusing on on-board networks<\/a> for ships, satellites, automobiles – and aircraft in the SE\u00b2A cluster.<\/p>\n

\u25ba DFG research group \u201cMetrology for THz Communications\u201d extended<\/h3>\n

In order to make speeds of 100 gigabits per second and higher technically possible, a new approach is needed in communications technology. The research group \u201cMeteracom\u201d<\/a> is dedicated to this topic and has now been supported by the DFG for another three years.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Master’s degree programmes in the lead<\/h3>\n

In this year’s CHE ranking<\/a>, the Master’s programmes in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Psychology were evaluated. All of them were awarded top places in individual categories.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Digital teaching: almost the same, only in green<\/h3>\n

In the Corona pandemic, digital teaching was the only way to keep teaching going for months. The question is how to implement digital formats efficiently without spending a lot of time on video productions. In a studio in the computer science building<\/a>, it’s easy to do.<\/p>\n

… to Professor Holger Hopp<\/a>! He received the ACTFL Paul Pimsleur Award for an article in the “Modern Language Journal” from the BMBF-funded project “MEG-SKoRE”. The prize is awarded by the American Convention of Teachers of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).<\/p>\n

… also to Sabine C. Langer<\/a>. The professor from the Institute of Acoustics was recently appointed president of the scientific society by the German Society for Acoustics (DEGA).<\/p>\n

\u25ba Students awarded for universal antigen detection system<\/h3>\n

The iGEM team of TU Braunschweig has won a silver medal with the project \u201cLionDetect\u201d at the Grand Jamboree in Paris. Today at 16.30. Melina Nowak and Sina Huxhagen will give the project presentation at BRICS. LionDetect<\/a> is designed to detect not only the smallest amounts of tumor markers, but also viruses or other antigens.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Teaching of tomorrow<\/h3>\n

The topic of the digital DICE Conference<\/a>, which will take place from 30 November to 02 December at TU Braunschweig, is how teachers and students from all over the world want to shape international teaching in the future. Registration is still possible until 29 November.<\/p>\n

\u25ba \u201cThe unwritten rules on campus\u201d<\/h3>\n

\u25ba Fast Forward Science<\/h3>\n

The tenth round of the multimedia competition for science \u201cFast Forward Science\u201d<\/a> has started. Entries are sought on all social media channels that creatively communicate current research. Proposals can be submitted online until 07 February.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Funding of international research projects<\/h3>\n

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has opened several calls with international partners in Chile, Mexico, Taiwan and the UK, some of them are limited to specific disciplines. Here you can find the calls with Chile<\/a>, Mexico<\/a>, Taiwan<\/a> and UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n
