\u25ba EXDIMUM joint project investigates extreme water events<\/h3>\n

Even in the “temperate latitudes” of Central Europe, both drought and heavy rainfall events are increasing dramatically. The EXDIMUM<\/a> research project addresses a spectrum of complex challenges posed by these extreme weather situations.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Reliability and service life of power electronics<\/h3>\n

The Institute for Electrical Machines, Traction and Drives (IMAB) is conducting research on efficient and compact power electronics components in the joint project NetFlexum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Productive Neighbourhood<\/h3>\n

The joint project Urban Factory II is investigating the potential of urban production with partners from universities, institutions and industry. “Besser Smart”<\/a> spoke to Michael Bucherer from the coordinating Institute for Construction Design, Industrial and Health Care Building.<\/p>\n

What do you do with discarded e-scooters? In the course “MacGyver Sustainable Entrepreneurship<\/a>“, teams of students looked for creative and sustainable solutions. The most creative prototypes were awarded prizes.<\/p>\n

\u25ba Female Physicist of the Week<\/h3>\n

When someone becomes ” Female Physicist of the Week”, of course, it has to be in “The Week”. We congratulate Professor Stefanie Kroker<\/a> on her award from the German Physical Society.<\/p>\n

… to Professor Beate Muschalla<\/a> from the Institute of Psychology! For a representative study on the topic of work-related anxiety, she was awarded the Boxberger Rehabilitation Research Prize Bad Kissingen.<\/p>\n

… also to Dr. Nadine Madanchi. She has been awarded the 5,000 euro Manfred Hirschvogel Prize<\/a> for the best dissertation at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. She has developed a systemic approach to the energy and resource efficiency of machining systems<\/p>\n

\u25ba In focus: Wilhelm Raabe<\/h3>\n

A poster exhibition<\/a> by students of the Institute of German Studies can be seen on the North Campus until 30 November (BI 97, Foyer). It presents Wilhelm Raabe as an author, his era and selected works.<\/p>\n

goes to the Managing Director of Faculty 6, Dr. C. Konrad Sch\u00e4fer, for his commitment to saving energy. With a great deal of organisational skill, he has managed to reschedule several hundred course dates so that they can take place in only two energetically favourable buildings on the North Campus. A great example that not only improves the energy balance, but also makes heating times more manageable for building management.<\/p>\n
